I’ve no issue with Brendan getting an absolute caning, deserves every bit of it. What we put out on the pitch today was disgusting, to not even manage 1xG combined at home to Southampton and Brentford is damning.

I just think that those above him deserve a % of the flak he’s getting. Right to the very top. Sure some of them you can say well it’s easy to say in hindsight (e.g paying the manager what we do and having him on such a long contract) but they’re there to get things right. Too many bad decisions been made that are tying us up in knots now. The reason I can’t get vociferously behind sacking the manager is because I don’t have faith in them selecting a new direction at this time.

All sorts of emotive reasons mean it’s a bit different but I can’t think of many clubs in the league where the fans would be so placid about those actually running the club if they saw how we drifted last year, have no intention of improving the squad and had made the start we have with little to enthuse us + some of the ways they’ve started treating the fans. The whole narrative around the club is negative at the moment, and there’s a very small number of people who can take responsibility for that. Look like we’re sleepwalking our way into a real mess.

Asleep at the wheel from ownership, management and coaching.

Nosedive.

Bit extreme...what facts do you have on the ownership failing?

Yes on the management from BR but apart from that there isn't much apart from idle gossip here that you can make a judgement on.

If you own a business and watch it turn to shit over a period of time (quite a long period of time actually) to the point where supporters of that company are openly talking about it going under then who is ultimately responsible?

Luckily we aren't at the point of no return yet.  But a big decision needs to be made at the top.  I just hope it isn't too late.

Some bad decisions have been made in regards to contracts handed out and overstretching of the wage budget that is all. As admittedly important as that aspect of finances are in every other sense our club has been managed in an exemplary fashion.

I think the biggest mistake the board made was giving Rodgers too much power.

We’re suffering through a power struggle and the prolonged last gasps of an outgoing manager.

Agree. I think the club got carried away with his largely excellent first season and he got too much leeway, including moving away from our highly successful recruitment system.

The recent appointments - new doctor, head of recruitment - might mean the club retaking control.

It's pretty clear that from spring to summer Brendan had been told that there would be funds available and that a refresh was on the cards.

He's made it clear that he was talking to players and working with recruitment in summer, then came back from the break to be told that it wasn't on.

That's on the board - they need to be looking forwards, scenario planning, it's their job to see the bumps in the road ahead and plan for/mitigate them.

Either there's been a sudden U-turn or they've dropped a massive clanger in the planning.

Until the game today I had sympathy for Rodgers, but this squad not being able to get the win at home to Southampton from a winning position is all on him.

Whoever thought it was a great idea to spunk 100 million on impressive training facility is an idiot, cause it’s almost laughable to see what’s been worked on put into practise on match days.

It’s really going to be a tough season ahead.

a great deal  of reasons whilst everything has gone to pot and behind the scenes we must be a bit in free fall.

It’s great having a world class training facility, but has this now made this bunch of players and staff soft, pampered and are all extremely comfortable.

Of the playing squad, it’s a massively split camp of a few fractions I would have thought, as you have players who care, the ones going through the motions, the wantaways and the outcasts/unwanted, it can’t be an exciting place to be at the moment.

If I was Maddison looking around that squad, he would see a strong personality in Schmeichel leave and a championship keeper at best take his spot.

A central defence that Fofana is going, an ageing player in Evans who will struggle with a 38 game Prem season and Amartey as much as he tries isn’t upto standard.

In midfield Tielemans is giving 80% so doesn’t get injured and may go or stay and see out his contract just counting down the days.

If I was Maddison I wouldn’t be putting pen to paper on a new deal without big additions to the squad before committing on a new deal.

As horrible as this start as been, it’s all a mess on the pitch, Rodgers included and by the 10 game mark if things haven’t massively improved he has to go as the Club have rolled the dice by borrowing money through staying in the league, Relegation isn’t an option, but with how things have started certainly is a possibility with how the outlook seems on various fronts.

from Top to bottom (no pun intended) we ain’t all pulling in the same direction, and it’s a massive worry so early into a season.

Lack of planning has been evident, the transfer saga where we failed to register a player in time and the amount of times we do deals so late in the window.

I think Rodgers will be sacked, but they will wait until transfer window closes either to sack him or to get a new one in so a new manager cant insist on signings.

Top is still a question mark for me as a reasonable replacement for Vichai, hes not recognising Rodgers has been in a downward spiral for a year or more, the stadium development looks dead or stalled, (we havent escalated it whilst we have the right to on the planning), communication with the fans seems to have stalled.

I also dont ever remember a summer before where we effectively tied a manager saying no signings at all, even when we were in admin an effort was made.

Biggest concern with the higher ups is their need for a possession based manager.

Could end up with another Rodgers just because they fit the profile.

Definitely feel like there's more to our lack of investment than "we just need to reduce of our bloated squad".

Feel like even if we sold Tielemans and Fofana for £100mil+ we wouldn't be getting anyone in. And the silence on the transfer issues from the higher ups has been pretty deafening.
