No, the council have taken a strangely long time on this, there was no messing in Nottingham

Quite true. I wonder if the problem is that KP will not go ahead with stadium expansion without consent for the other parts of the redevelopment project. It would have been interesting to have known whether the council would have granted consent very quickly on the stadium alone.

I don't know as I'm not a mod, but would guess that the previous thread was deleted because it was based on rumours with no sources and no credibility.

Exhibit A, here it is again from the deleted thread.....

Not sure if this guy has any legitimacy or knowledge (and Jordan Blackwell says it’s not true… not that that means much) but found this interesting given the timing

So, some attention-seeking Man Utd fan with no known connections to Leicester is "hearing" that LCFC is up for sale....though he doesn't care to mention where he's "hearing" this....

Meanwhile, I'm "hearing" that a sale to Mike Ashley is in the offing. Plus a Man City fan on Twitter reckons that due to Vardy's status as GOAT, he's leaving LCFC to run a goat farm in Tennessee - he has existing US connections, as we know.

Plus a bloke in the pub who has insider knowledge at the club (his cousin's drinking buddy empties the bins) reckons that Robert Huth plans to become a female lingerie model.

Reckon I'll start 3 new threads about those things I'm "hearing"....

Please could someone find and bump the "Twitter rumours" thread so people can put all the zero-credibility guff in there so we can all ignore it? :D

Wouldn't have a clue to be honest. Going to be a lot though aint it.
There is a reason why rich businessmen want to keep investing in English football clubs.

I'm no expert on the financial side of the club - it bores me, to be honest.

But Foxxed's point below (bold) is the key point, as I understand it. Namely, while some rich businessmen invest in clubs to make money from profits, others have different commercial motives.

My understanding is that, aside from any personal/emotional family ties, King Power's commercial interest in investing in LCFC is not to make money directly but to promote their brand internationally.

I'm sure they won't want to lose damaging sums but the commercial benefit comes not from direct profits from the club but from promoting the King Power brand to boost the KP image and profits......best achieved by ensuring LCFC is a successful club with a good reputation that gets plenty of good publicity for King Power.

Of course, all sorts of factors could cause King Power itself problems (global economy, local Thai politics, decline in tourism, impact of pandemic & lockdowns, given the nature of the KP business etc.). But until we hear anything credible about such issues, I reckon we should assume that our personal interests as fans and the owners' commercial (and personal) interests remain aligned. Budgeting & potential FFP issues seem much more credible explanations for our current transfer/financial tribulations.

Great international publicity for King Power too.

I think there’s a large leap from “we incorrectly banked on CL football” to “we’re going to sell the club”.

The club’s investment in the academy will be a good earner.

I’ve been suspecting this for some time. Never in this period of ownership have we seen such a lack of ambition. Since Vichai left us, things just haven’t been the same and it would appear that Top isn’t as committed. It really wouldn’t surprise me if this were true, and if it’s not true, then Top needs to show some ambition and sort the club out because it’s a mess!

Wasn’t Top the driving force behind Vichai buying it in the first place?

You don't need to wonder. It's been made clear from the start of the project that one will not go ahead without the other. Hence the hybrid application.

This season is already ****ed up because of not sacking Rodgers in summer and not offloading deadwood

that makes 2 years in a row of "lack of ambition", as already mentioned

They need wake to up/slap in the face, or just leave if they are gonna keep like this

Last thing we need is some asset stripping, asset maximising, debt leveraging, american investors (Accountants) coming in. Sell to anyone except Americans, litterally nohing ever comes good from American ownership of anything.

I'm not saying everything has to be factually proven. Rumours based on evidence or quoted sources are worth discussing, as are rumours from commentators with demonstrated credibility.

But wasting time on a rumour that an attention-seeking fan of another club claims to have "heard" from an unstated source with no evidence seems a bit pointless......so I'll stop wasting my time on it! :D

Agreed, the best we can hope for is a Middle Eastern country showing some interest.

Difficult thing to balance isn’t it, you don’t want preschoolkevin posting endless click bait, but you do want sources that have a history of being well sourced, how you achieve this distinction is anyones guess. Although I noted that Red Cafe transfer section has a source tier list, and they to have a section limited to such posts, does sound a massive faff to setup though I imagine.

You are right, of course.  I was being generous and naively hopeful of us still getting the stadium expansion started.

Just a guess but I don't think the club would be in real trouble unless it got relegated. But it does seem to have hit the point where they need to retool.

Not making the CL two years in a row I don't think was ideal given the spending on the roster.

Are people forgetting that Top was Vice Chairman of LCFC before Vichai died? He was just as involved in the running of the business (maybe more so) than his dad. We know of a few occasions where Top wanted something to happen and convinced his dad to do it. Where's the nonsense coming from that his heart's not in it, when it very clearly is?

Indeed, wasn't it Top that convinced Vichai to buy in the first place?

I think the wider King Power business is a bit strapped for cash as Duty Free has taken a big hit these last couple of years. It will bounce back though.

I think this season will be a poor one by recent standards, but as long as we dodge relegation then things will look up. The wage bill will go down next season as quite a few contracts run out. I would be inclined to bring through a few more of the youngsters this season too, to freshen up the squad, staring with some cup games.

This may be a bit of a mess at the moment, but having some cartel financing this club is not the way to go.

Thailand tourism has been absolutely battered in the past couple of years.

I read some rubbish on this Forum over the years but this rumour tops them all. No we're not for Sale.

Do you think KP would have spent 100 million on Seagrave. Building an Hotel and expanding the Ground just to walk away from it when a business blip happens.

This is a Company who has one of the best CEOs SW in Industry never mind just in Football.

It's also a Company who laid off no Employees during Covid despite losing 60 million in the process, That they deserve great Credit for alone.

The KPs real bread and butter is their Duty Free franchises which has been badly hit by Covid. Maybe Top has taken his eye of the Football side a little recently . Maybe he's preocuppied by his new 200 mullion pd Island.

We've had a blip which is a shock to many but it's just a reminder that Life never runs smooth all of the time.

For Sale, No, I very much doubt it.

So you would say that a huge organisation wanting to invest lots of money and show some

ambition to be a regular in the top 6 would be a bad idea? I see it all turned out terribly at Man City…

....my personal feelings, I would hate to have the backing they have, it changes the dynamic of the club, and you tend to lose something!!!

We are the right size at the moment, we are trying to be self-sufficient and I am glad that is our aim. We were lucky to have these owners picking us up and investing, let us hope they stay for a long time.

They could be building a portfolio of assets and with building values going up they could look to increase their outlay much like bill kenwright did with Chelsea
