I zone out at varying times as my health anxiety takes hold.

A health issue which involuntarily impacts you is a very different scenario to choosing to buy curtains and/or ar$e about.

Remember a some bloke at West Ham away a few years ago FaceTiming his missus lol

Maybe this is the modern way of communicating that a birth is imminent, replacing the tanoy announcement from the seventies and eighties for Mr X to go to.. as your wife has gone into labour. At least in the modern era you can stay put, watch the birth on your mobile

True. But I diagnosed myself with 3 illnesses during the Palace game. Thankfully, it's fading away again.

I stare at my Apple Watch to keep a check on my heart rate as my anger and blood pressure issues rise due to Brendans inept decisions and substitutions.

I now need a new watch.

Not football but a guy beside me fell asleep aboit ten minutes in at the World Snooker Championship. He was by himself so obviously must have had an interest as he wasnt dragged there by someone.

Woke up when it was the mid session interval and didnt come back. Tickets were about 40 quid for the session.

At the Palace game the lovely lady in front of us was checking Livescore on her phone during the match. It was obviously a habit she couldn't break, as we were the only game playing at the time. Made me think she was used to watching games on streaming where the game lags a few minutes behind. You are at the live game luv, the goals not going to register on livescore before you actually see it :)

...why were you on your phone in that instance!!!

I have been to the game with my brother and the first thing he wants to do is a selfie to say he is at the game. People already know you are at the game!!

Does it make you a bad supporters, surely not, as it seems that it is the norm, put the phone away and enjoy the atmosphere and occasion!

....are these supporter indicative of the fee paying supporters and is this all about a place to be seen, and excess money!!!

Like all people who go to the games, they pay their money so are entitled to "watch" the game in any manner that suits them.

It is obvious that the people attending games are no longer the die hard supporters (most of them have been squeezed out by pricing) and what is keft are dotted around the stadium,  without a collective voice.

Any kind of pushback to the club would not be something you would find, as the stadium has become a destination arena as opposed to a gladiatorial cauldron of fire.

But they’re not watching - for large periods - that’s the point!

I get what you mean, ultimately a customer can choose how to engage etc, but it’s crap isn’t it. Football has clearly sold its soul. I would also say it’s far worse at other grounds. I’ve sat in the home end at the Emirates and truly dire, with many talking about work and occasionally looking up at the big screen.

Its also why away games are more fun frankly. More hardcore and less fair weather types.

I mean I class myself as a loyal supporter, but not sure I’d go to a match if my wife was due to give birth!

I attended the 1996 Euro final between Germany and the Czech Republic. My seat was at the back on the half way line. Aside from the Olympic gallery this was the best seat in the stadium. I was amazed when a man sitting a few rows in front of me placed a portable black and white TV onto the  back of the seat in front of him and proceeded to watch the entire  match on the TV!!

Moving forward 25 years we see this all the time with folks preferring to watch through a mobile phone.

Outside of football I went to see the Barber Of Seville at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. After ten minutes I told the couple in front of me to turn off their phones as it was distracting. They got up and left, never to return.

I had more WIFI at Nou camp with 80k people than I get at KP with 30k!

Oh yeah I was WhatsApping pictures to mates of the ground during half time.

Well done Sherlock Holmes, no flies on you!

Almost as excruciating as watching the game. Must admit I didn’t realise live streaming was available from the Labour Ward. Do you get a choice of camera view?

Thats like something from a movie script. She watching us v Leeds sees live score change to one nil to us but she looks up and sees Castagne with the ball on the half way line. 20 seconds later we have the ball in the back of the net and she doubts her own existence, full on Truman Show style.

There's dads and husbands out there, that would consider that length of peace, money well spent.
