Argentina are nothing special.

Messi alone could win it for them.

Argentina were more Maradona dependent in 1990 than 1986. Their achievement in getting to the 1990 final was more impressive than winning it in 1986. In Argentina they love the 1990 team more than 1986 for the sheer bloody mindedness of the campaign that got them to the final (when they were robbed - dodgy pen).

Dont get the number 8s in this game.

Box to box midfielders?

No we have a left back wearing 8 for Argentina and the 8 for Holland has a free role.

Insult to the great 8 shirt of Youri Tielemans!

Doesn’t want to risk having to send him off !

Thing is, Messi did not get where he is by being protected, he is quite able to live with getting booked for being a dick and still contribute massively

Messi is ****ing incredible. Even at his age! Not having that he is overrated by commentators. He deserves every word of praise.  Glad to see him performing in a world Cup even if its so late in his career.

Also, might not have known if he’d already got a yellow in the tournament and then would have been suspended for the semi.

Ref's get a run down on who's on what as part of their advance game pack.

His close control is unbelievable.

Messi is seriously strong - it's something that's rarely commented on as he's always still viewed as the skinny kid who scored those wonder goals from the wing. You can't knock him off the ball not only because of his skill but also his strength.

Totally agree. His close control is special and it allows him to do things that can totally open a game up. It's funny because he's totally one footed but he can still go either way due to how he can kill the ball with either instep or outside of his left foot. Sometimes you have to acknowledge genius because he is. The GOAT for me not even a shadow of a doubt.
