Mostly finished with the Charlie Methven section. I hope people pay attention about the worst case scenario stuff.

Does feel like a lot of Leicester fans (specifically King Power types) think it'll all be fine and we'll just go back to being a yo-yo club (we were in League One before you know!!!)

The reality is much more bleak.

Great listen, Charlie is experienced in the field and everything he said makes sense… he essentially described all of my fears.. I think he’s spot on as well, he’s been through it himself and understands the red flags when they appear……

It was his comments on the relegation clauses that clearly pissed them off. He suggested we don’t put them (a claim that has been repeated across social media). To be fair I don’t really blame the club for correcting this if it isn’t true because it’s actually quite important.

What isn’t in dispute is that the club has been taking loans from Macquarie to meet day-to-day running costs. As Methven pointed out, you only do this if you have to—nobody would choose to pay loan interest if they were in a healthy enough position to wait for the parachute payments etc to come in when they were due. The club’s complaint to Methven that this is ‘normal’ is much less convincing than the factual correction about the relegation clauses.

Methven admitted that he doesn’t know what our cost base is this season or will be next season. He clearly suspects it will prove to be unsustainable in League One, but nobody outside of the club knows the true picture. Things are clearly bad—we just don’t know how bad. It’s a shame the transfer window doesn’t open for another six weeks because I’ll feel a lot better if/when we start offloading our remaining high earners in addition to those whose contracts have expired…

The club have been in touch with Maguire as well as I think as he mentions the club has learnt is lessons and now have them in contracts.

Jordan mentioned it briefly and I’ve mentioned it in another thread but what exactly does the Vichai foundation do..?

Very subtle but effective comment from Jordan (he’s one of our own).

I’m no accountant but what I picked up from the accounts is that the Foundation has £700K in the bank and that £291K was spent on season ticket donations, which is effectively paying the club.

Also what a great pod and speaker.

Imagine being KP (and isn't it funny that they do respond in some cases) and challenging his other podcast to be whittled back to the only statement of fact that 'some players have L1 clauses' when he only gave an opinion.

Rudkin, Aiyawatt, your cronies, you are frauds and are being found out more and more each day. Take the money while you can because your names are becoming dirt.

In that other pod, he said Top was an idiot, and I guess no one contactd him to correct that, just the wage clauses. Shades of Grandpa Simpson defending Homer from being accused of being a communist in the least helpful way lol

This whole thing needs more attention and investigation.

Why is the Communications Director a trustee of the Vichai foundation?

Would he have been added to this around the time the club panicked on the £25 fan tax. He was very involved in this.

I'm as anti King Power as you'll find, but I also think the situation is more manageable than the worst case scenario he was throwing out there.

It's a ridiculously avoidable scenario we have found ourselves in but there are ways round it. Dare I say a few benefits too not having to deal with PSR. We can now sell players just to get the money in. Don't have to worry about the amortisation on Fatawu, Kristansen and Faes. Just get money in.

I think best scenario with training ground is to close it for most the year and go back to Belvoir Drive.

Things have changed really quickly in a short space of time. But that also means they can change the other way pretty quickly too.

Great pod again gents.

Charlie Methven clearly speaks sense but had his own cringe/interesting moments on Sunderland ‘til I die BUT Sandstorm is a banger and brings back so many great memories as came out when in secondary school!

Thanks for reminding me to listen to Cream Anthems 2001 again 😎

Jordan of BSLB was on the latest fan debate podcast.

The whole podcast is worth a listen, but you can hear Jord give his opinion about Leicester on, roughly, the final 10minutes of the pod.

You could feel the awkwardness from Conor Coady (who was also on the show).

Jord gave a good account of our problems, in a limited amount of time given to him.

It all helps highlight who the culprits are and who’s to blame for overseeing our demise.

Did my Spotify cut out or did they end it half way through Coady talking?

It did appear to end abruptly. Think the whole podcast was an hour and 7 minutes.
