So we need 16 points from 15 games remaining to hopefully stay up.

Which game do you feel we will be mathematically safe?

Hopefully by Fulham! Because the last three games I don’t hold much hope points wise.

April is by far the biggest month for us in terms of winnable games.

Palace

Bournemouth

Wolves

Leeds

Everton

Man City in there too but definitely not winnable.

I'd like to think we're safe by May for the reasons you mention, by virtue of winning the above games, and other teams not doing enough to be safe.

Perhaps our fate will be sealed in a positive way because other teams don't pick up the points, as opposed to our own games. Sad indictment of the season but that's how it may be!

Looking at the last 4 games - Brighton, Villa, Tottenham, Man Utd. I'd have taken 7 points beforehand, so yesterday's loss isn't that bad in the bigger picture.

Knowing us, we'll beat Chelsea, Brentford and Man City and struggle in the above 5 lol

I am confident we will get nearer 50 points rather than 40.

Our issue is the first 7 games a picking up 1 point, since then we have picked up 23 points from 17 @ 1.35 per game if that carries on we hit 44 points.

We have played Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs away so only have Man C to visit out of the big 6.

We have played Man C, Man U and Spurs at home, so just Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool to come to us.

So we have 12 very winnable games.

If we don’t get a response at home next game, I’m concerned we will go on another losing streak. Even just a scruffy point would do, because otherwise we are getting dragged back in

5 more wins should do the trick. If we can pick up 2 or 3 of those sooner rather than later, that will help massively.

I didn't necessarily expect to get anything at Old Trafford, but we're back to feeling pretty low again after a 3-0 defeat which in my opinion is compounded by a series of other results not going our way throughout the weekend. Important we don't let that detract from the positive steps made in the previous two games vs Villa and Spurs. We played an excellent half of football yesterday and things are undoubtedly more positive than they were. Unfortunately yesterday we had nothing to show for it and didn't get the rub of the green with some refereeing/VAR decisions, but play like that first half showing more often than not and we'll be over the hill and out of sight at HT against lots of teams.

We need to get the Arsenal game out of the way to conclude a horrible run of fixtures in February - anything we get next weekend is a huge bonus - and then we can focus on a couple of winnable away trips and playing an out-of-sorts Chelsea at home.

Low Bar:D

Our fixtures are decent, the Blackburn result if we can win will help the league form post Arsenal as Walsall did & we were poor in that game, but it was a win.

Been good away from home generally when we've needed to be.

Not confident but VERY optimistic we won't be in the bottom 3 & we shouldn't be with that squad. Decided by Soton, Palace, Bournemouth, Leeds, West Spam, Everton, Wolves.  Try not to lose more than 1, win 5 & that'll be enough.  Soton away win would be big as we kick on and get the motor running again & they miss a chance against another struggler.

As the thread would be nice to be safe with 3 or 4 to play.

Problem is bottom of table teams often pick up form end of season, as they fighting for their lives.  Mid table teams with nothing to play for are the best ones.  I do think Everton and Wolves will move up the table though so they both might be safe by the time we play them.

Worrying stat I noticed on Sunday was that without Madders our points per game average is 0.8. There are other factors too, the games he missed were often at times of a wider injury crisis with Wilf and Evans out too but if he was to get another injury that 0.8 would struggle to be enough. I also think with the new signings we're a better side than we were for those games but still tight to achieve those points if we lose him for many games.

I think you're right, I'm aiming for 4 wins and a draw or two and we're staying up.

If we haven't got 33/34 points by May then we're in trouble.

That could be us too!

Again to even be in this situation is a huge failure - our defensive numbers are abysmal. We have the talent to be fine but we're consistently worse than the sum of our parts. We should be fine.

I would say there's at least one club ending up sub-30. Probably two.

IMO 11 more points sees us safe. We aren't going down.

All teams are competitive this season so I would be surprised if any finish below 30.

Southampton have taken 18 points form 23 games @ 0.78 points per game.

If the carry that on they will be around the 30 pt mark.

Which is one of the problems, if you can't win a game, you want to be able too not lose.

Turn a couple of loses in to draws and we are in a much better place.
