It’s not even a split fanbase, this poll is 80% remain and this is foxestalk. Disturbing. Phil

The OP was from 2023, dredged it up as it was the ableist KP out thread I could find

The writing was on the wall for those fools Rudkin and Aiyatwat back in 2023 when they didn't act on Rodgers for months.

It was clear we had a hopeless ownership.

I think just ousting Jon Rudkin could make a massive difference.

of all the absolute nonsense we have on FT, and there's a LOT - this sort of shit has been some of the worst and it's been rampant recently.

people calling Rodger's 'cancer', etc.

mindless stuff, absolute cringe-fest material and utterly embarrassing to think fans of other teams etc. might swing by and see it.

Quite a few pearlers in this thread.

goodness me, this has aged

Problem is that at the time, it was a fair view, certainly without any context about them staying but replacing Rudkin etc.

I don't want him out, but I want him to seriously step up his game. The club is a mess. He's running on credit in the bank at the minute.

Update: Did not step up his game. Allowed the relegation to take place. Rewarded those responsible for it.

I am neutral towards King Power. They are not a family but a company, hence why they've appointed Susan Whelan and so on. I am not sycophantic towards them like some of our fanbase, which is a dangerous step, because you have to be able to hold them accountable for the good or/and bad. Every season the club becomes more corporate than the last, whilst our owners play a part in that, I see the Premier League and wider football market as the main causation for this. Furthermore, I believe Nigel Pearson was more responsible for our success on the pitch, rather than King Power. Could another manager have built what he did? Very unlikely. Could he have built what he did without King Power? Most likely. Although, we might not have won the league, instead gaining sustained success like that under Martin O'neill.

However, I am wary of who is out there to replace them. For that reason I will vote in. Whilst we lose our identity on and off the pitch, through the ownership and the advent of modern football, I will continue to enjoy the intangible heritage of my experience of supporting the club. Those friends I only see at football. The pubs I visit. The route I take to the ground and have done for the last twenty years. My memories and nostalgia, of worse times on the pitch, but happier times as a supporter. This is what football is about.

It's not all doom and gloom though

So, so much negativity!

Our owners are fantastic.

Our business model actually works, and has worked

The new stadium will be nothing short of spectacular.

We have a good squad

They'll argue that its because they always get shot down and ridiculed, when the reality is, they cant form any kind of argument as to why he should stay other than "we won the league and fa cup" and "be careful what you wish for". This place is great for debate and argument over LCFC matters and I always like to hear differing views to my own, however im still yet to have anyone give me a good argument as to why Top should stay.

Wasn’t until last season that people properly turned was it

Even the Thai influencer fest had loads defend it at the time

He had more apologists in 23 i imagine due to the 21 season and the highs that came with it.

It was the worst relegation from such a position of strength by any club in the modern era 4th for the best part of 2 seasons to relegation was extraordinary.

And it wasn't Leeds 2004 where the issues we're well flagged in advance.

Repeating the same mistakes last season and keeping Rudkin meant that there was no way back.

I don't want him/them out but things need to change and quickly. It's not just the Rodgers situation, it's the whole club, the last few years off the pitch have been shocking. Every few weeks there seems to be another astonishing decision being taken which seems to be against the fans or against logic and we're expected to just keep happy clapping, turning up and paying our money without questioning it.

Those that don't think Top or KP can do anything wrong scare me, it sounds like regardless of what happens (even multiple relegations) people would still say he's doing a fantastic job and we want to be careful what we wish for.

Every so often I get it right

Nah, I think we just know that that isn't going to happen (multiple relegations), and I'm confident we'll survive this season, too.

I think we'll be going into next season with Rodgers as manager, quite a fair few new signings/departures and a changed atmosphere within the fan base ready to climb back up the league a little bit. Don't expect us to fight for Europe, but be 11th-14th-ish.

This didn't age that welll :revenge:
