100% Vardy will start. He’ll be chomping at the bit.

Shame he's been absolutely awful

Ndidi at his best is a better player than Mendy but right now Mendy is performing better. I’d be tempted to try Ndidi in his best role (just stopping people getting past him and then passing to someone else) to see if he still has it but on merit, right now, Mendy deserves to start.

Other than that god knows. I’d personally say that Iversen, Souttar, Ricardo, Kristiansen, Maddison, Barnes and Iheanacho need to start but the rest I don’t really know. My heart says Vardy but not sure.

The absolute power of wishful thinking. It's staggering how it can defy all.logic.

The lad has been 1/10 for every game except Villa. Maybe. 2/10 v Blackburn - point extra for a fine crossfield.pass.

And yet 2 posters already consider him in our best xi.

Deary me.

Well, the question was about our best eleven currently. You clearly didn’t take the time to read what the OP said.

Believe me, I did.

Sorry pal, but as someone else has already pointed out, Tete wouldn't make our second xi,.let alone first. Including injury.

In the rh midfield role I'd play Ricky, Praet, Madders and even KDH or Daka ahead of him

If pushed would probably say:

                    Ivo

Rickyo Soutto Soyo Kristo

             Wilfo  Tielo

                Maddog
            Nacho Vardz Barnseo

Yes, I’m fully aware that’s a fvcking abomination of a formation.

Missed about 5 chances all season. Needs to start games, need to get the ball to him which hasn’t happened. Just like Saturday really 3 shots sums us up.

Or Wout instead of Jonny, Jonny slows the build up down too much, we need to speed our pace up, considerably.  Riccy was great when he came on, and Kristiansen needs to be let loose.

Mendy gives you more passing that Wilf, his distribution is awful & he was shocking Saturday, how has he gone back so much.

Tete had 1.5 good games, and has totally vanished since and is lazy and am prepared to give Saka lots of time BUT that half season with Nach & Vardy upfront, we need to know on Vardy BUT IF he's lost it, then its a quick swap.

As it currently stands, I'd go for:

GK. Iversen

RB. Castagne

CB. Souttar

CB. Faes

LB. Kristiansen

CDM. Mendy

RCM. Pereira

LCM. KDH

CAM. Maddison

ST. Iheanacho

ST. Daka

Pereira and KDH as the 'wide' players in a diamond would work well I feel.

Harsh on Barnes but I just don't feel our options on the right warrant us having to play 2 wingers.

Na. Not a chance. Ndidi 100 times out of 100, if fully fit and free to play his game. If that's the case Mendy doesn't even get a look in, as has been the case with those before Brendan.

Mendy has played well but he hasn't been a patch on what we know Ndidi can do.

Ndidi was at the top of all DMs in Europe when free to play, Mendy isn't anywhere near Ndidi.

What Ndidi used to do…..

He’s been abysmal the last 2 years…

Mendy has rarely let us down when he plays… and never been fortunate enough to get a run of games like ndidi

So, essentially you either play somebody who has never played RW or force another player out of their natural position. I have already said on my post that in an ideal world, I’d play Ricardo on the right but we have a shortage of full backs, so that isn’t possible atm.

I am not saying that Tete is the answer (I don’t think he is for a second) but you have to think about balance.

I thought that. People putting Mendy in instead of Ndidi? No way, injury free Ndidi all day long. And let's see what Vardy can do in a 44 F ing 2.

...horses for courses!!!

Ndidi looks after the back line, Mendy helps to keep the play ticking over, it suits Brendan ball.

Barnes is our joint top scorer so I don't think he can be left out. If we played a diamond I wonder if we could deploy him centrally with Daka or Nacho.

Says it all. Where has that got us?

Mendy on the bench. The fact you can count on one hand the amount of passes be makes forwards in a game tells you he's a Brendan player all day long.

You want out of this mess you move away from Brendan ball and revert to type. Get the ball, get it forward and score some goals.

Let's see what the new gaffer goes with.

Personally I don't think you can judge too many players on this season as they've all been playing Brendans shitty sideways style and I don't think any of our players suit that (none of them). Once they get over that I'm sure we will get the results we need to start climbing the table again.

Iversen; Souttar, Evans, Soyuncu; Ricardo, Tielemans, Ndidi, Kristiansen/Justin; Maddison; Daka, Iheanacho would be my "if everyone was fit" first 11

Surprised Barnes is being left out so much. I know he's unpredictable but he's so important to us. I fancy him to really pick up with Rodgers gone.

some of the formations would allow barnes and nacho up top, albeit slightly lopsided.

i would want to find a way to include barnes.

3-5-2  for me

-----------------------------------iversen-------------------------------------

----------faes--------------souttar------------------soyenchu

ricardo------------------------------------------------------------------christiansen

------------------------ndid-------------------kdh---------------------

---------------------------------madders--------------------------------------

-------------------nacho---------------------vardy

go old school tell ndidi to do what he does best in break up play and short pass to someone who can pass

nacho and vards always play well together and get vardy back to playing on the shoulder down the middle and on the counter

Correct

Barnes is just too inconsistent for me and the situation we’re in, we have to start with wingbacks and a back 3,  there’s also balance, Tete has shown nothing, we just can’t afford to risk him with starts. 3 big defenders, look for free kicks into the box in the first half, use Barnes in the second half if we’re chasing a goal.

You watch the Everton game, every player has got to be aggressive, putting tackles in and chasing, I just don’t see that with Barnes, I’d rather play Praet tbh

If you wanted to be generous with Ndidi you'd say he hasn't been in our best XI for 12 months, the reality is its probably closer to two years.

I get where you are coming from. we've been far to 'nice' to play against for a long time.

whoever is starting needs to buy into what you describe

real pace scares teams though

Free flowing team where everyone is comfortable on the ball (minus Iversen but Ward can jog on), Full backs over lapping and Tielemans pulling the strings knocking balls into the channels. Plenty of pace on wings for a counter attack aswell

So basically we are playing with 10 starters. As Vardy is so washed it’s painful to watch. No way can he play as alone striker. But he has been lethal in front of goal this season
