I think the ‘mutual consent’ is because he suddenly realised he was going to get relegated and didn’t want that on his CV

He got sacked. Mutual consent is there to save face a bit for managers. Not sure why though. He's come out and said he wanted to stay and the club said he's fallen short.

Have to be honest, I’d grown to really dislike Bodgers and this just makes me like him even less.
He just seems that sort of bloke who never takes any blame for anything.

The reality is that, despite money lacking for transfers etc, he should have gotten more out of the existing squad than he did this season.

Thanks mainly for the FA Cup and Charity Shield BR - and four top ten finsihes, albeit two of which were bottling a nailed on looking top four finish twice on consecutive final days of the season by losing silly games late on in each of those seasons!). It was only a matter of time before BR's tenure ended here in this way though - and the only crumb of comfort in leaving it as late as this in 'getting rid' is that we have ten games left starting with a tricky looking tie v Villa tonight re a team with an outside chance still of Europa league qualification....and are only two points from safety for now, instead of ten or so!

Also think it speaks volumes for him that this statement doesn't wait until tomorrow but instead when we have a game tonight and his sacking was overshadowed by Potter being sacked. Gotta keep his name in connection with vacancies hasn't he?

Don’t think we should be too harsh on him. He delivered some of the very best, and the very worst football I’ve seen in an LCFC EPL team. Two top 5 finishes and an FA cup is incredible by the club’s historical standards.

Good luck to him in the future, but it was definitely time to move on as his era became increasingly stale.

Sources: Brendan Rodgers took 'massive' pay-off hit to quit Leicester City
Brendan Rodgers took a “massive” cut on the compensation he was due at Leicester City, sources have told Football Insider.

Rodgers was desperate to leave Leicester before he was relived of his duties and is believed to have taken a big hit to his pay-off in order to get out of the club.

The 50-year-old felt he had taken the Foxes as far as he could and is keen for a new management opportunity.

Rodgers was let go on Sunday (2 April) after failing to turn around a poor run of results which landed Leicester in the relegation zone.

The East Midlands club are currently 19th in the Premier League following back-to-back defeats to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, the former the result that ended Rodgers’ tenure as manager.

Rodgers enjoyed several successful seasons at the King Power Stadium after abandoning Celtic to take up the position back in 2019.

He guided the side to their first ever FA Cup victory as well as two of their highest ever Premier League finishes.

Interesting version of his departure.
