If he has JTs respect, surely the players will see that and think this is a CL winner and he really buys into Smiths methods. I will give him a chance.

I’m not sure whether this means we have got to the shitter just in time or unfortunately come up a couple of paces short

Guaranteed will be here in a year begging for Top to sack Smith while being sat 18th in the championship. Top won’t sack him because he is a “nice guy”. I’ve never been so against an appointment in all my years of supporting this club and probably because this signifies the end of an incredible period - self destruction complete.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 (edited) My Villa supporting mate absolutely raves about Smith. I feel nothing but dread but he insists he's great. Edited 10 April 2023 by Rain King

Scotch Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 The thing with an interim manager is that IF by some miracle we stayed up, we sort of become an attractive proposition again in the summer for a new manager to come in to. 7 players out of contract, freeing up a ton of wages, probably 3/4 big earners being sold for decent money, topping up transfer funds and hopefully some investment of transfer funds. A new manager has the opportunity to come in and construct almost a whole squad exactly how they want it. Which makes the recruitment of a new manager in the summer absolutely vital. He will define our next decade. 1
Mike Oxlong Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 The downside to bringing Terry in is that we’ll need to find the funds for another disabled parking space at the stadium and “training” ground

He did a good job there but he's also a Villa fan so they had that connection, I know Pearson wasn't a fan but it feels a bit like that for them.

Would you have rather had Ted Lasso on a 3/4 year deal? Yes it’s crap, but realistically could it be any better? Literally nobody wants this job.
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 He loves a ball playing CB so I wonder if Soyuncu will get the nod over Amartey or Souttar?

As I said above, he is not a Top 6 manager but he is a decent one and a very likable guy. He also tries to play nice football and is honest in interviews. Yes, he is not perfect but he is a damn good appointment for a club that has a team that look totally disinterested and and clearly underperforming 9 2
Popular Post cityfanlee23 Posted 10 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2023 I'm surprisingly optimistic about the idea of Smith, Shakey and Terry if we can convince JT to join, I think we have a half decent run in and would back them to at least get us doing the basics. Get into 'em Dean 8

Interesting to see the difference between Villa fans opinion of Smith and Leeds fans opinion of Marsch. Obvs Leeds have the whole Bielsa problem but there does seem to be a real dislike for Marsch. I hope Smith is interim and with JT and Shakespeare, and that they are all at Seagrave tomorrow. But yes, I’ve grown into this today. 3

STUHILL Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 No idea why, because he is a c*nt, but having Terry come in as well, has made me more optimistic about this. 3
