Brecel missing shots by miles now on half chances. Momentum is massively with Selby right now, so much so that if things continue Selby will win this 18-16. As before momentum can change very quickly though.

Amazing performance from Luca. Kept his nose ahead and didn't crumble under the sustained pressure of a Selby comeback.

Selby battled well but it wasn’t to be.

 

Luca scored too heavily and his bounce back ability was fantastic throughout.

 

At this particular time, Luca winning is a much needed victory for Snooker.

 

Hopefully this boosts the popularity amongst the younger generation and across Europe.

Usually I'd be gutted but Brecel is such a damn talent and a really nice lad.

 

Didn't crumble (like I thought he would) after Selby did what we knew he'd do at some point.

Snooker was the winner.

I don't think Selby ever really recovered from the late semi-final and starting 3-0 down. The final ebbed and flowed, but that difference was always there.

 

That said, Selby's 147 in a final will actually be more of a statement on his legacy than a 5th title, and its great to see a new breakthrough in the sport as its been a long time coming - all the players, including Selby seem to have a lot of affection for him.

Her Dad died years ago, before Mark’s second WC, so it must be something else.

I think Selby played fairly well albeit not at his 100% best. He struggled all tournament to convert those 30 and 40’s into frame winning breaks. 
 

Brecel on the other hand was just utterly lethal and deserved it fully. One of the more likeable players for sure.

Was a very good final and excellent tournament overall I thought, really enjoyed the snooker over the past fortnight.

Magnificent from Brecel, a worthy winner. Selby did what he could to push him all the way.

 

As others have said, snooker itself has benefited from this one.
