Which has been the case all season, you think pep’s would be able to get them caring or running about in 8 games

...he might have given them a plan!!!

Looking clueless without direction seems to be what Smith has brought to the table. Castagne seems to have forgotten how to play the game, he is always playing people on because he does not get out quickly or has no idea who is behind him. We have lots of players back, but no one is picking up anyone, and opponents getting shots off without being closed down.

It would be an admission of a calamitous appointment, should we choose to offload Smith now, I just cannot see the performances getting any better with him at the helm.

At least Big Sam would have brought a track record of salvage operations with him - Smith’s only real credentials were PL experience and being so undesirable that he’d take the job.  He probably won’t keep Leeds up but he only got 4 matches there, and they’re definitely more organized and showing more fight under him.  With 8 to work with for us, who knows.

The Man City game was a free hit, wolves we beat but since then what a pile of old dog shit it has been. Smith is proving to be as clueless as the fraud one.

why oh why wasn’t someone identified to take over as soon as we sacked Rodgers?

Everyone laughed when Big Sam was mentioned. He would have probably been our best chance.

Why sack him? What will it achieve. The rot is so engraved in the squad, players and club it won't make any difference. The last 10 minutes showed that the players have checked out, given up. We're not getting relegated because of tonight. It's the whole season. We are the second worst team in the league and with a team of internationals that is disgraceful

....I suppose admitting that it is all over, and the inevitable is at our door, would be the best thing, but you look for things to cling on to!!!

Smith has been ineffective, his teams do not give us the best opportunity to succeed, and he continues to use a formation which exposes our weaknesses and plays our weakest players in our weakest position. The only good thing to come from having Smith here has been the return of Shakey, it will be sad to see him go again, or we could just keep him on for the last two games. Liverpool played 4-3-3 tonight, and we went for a 4-2-3-1, a formation where teams have had a field day against us, and yet Smith is full steam ahead into oblivion.

He cannot motivate or bring tactical knowledge to the table, for the last two games the players just do not appear to have any zest for the situation that we are in, that must be the influence of Smith at the helm. So the last two games Shakey and Stowell (no Sadler), let us try to galvanise one last effort to beat this, I fear under Smith it will be more of the same.

The guy has had what 6 games? Seriously?!

The rot is now ingrained into the core of the squad, no fight , no bottle, no identity. It would take an actual magician to turn it around.

I don't think Smith is a bad manager, this is a terrible team of players. Gutless.

I can take shit but I can't take gutless.

That been said Ndidi, You're, Faes just ain't good enough. To me an Evans, Soutar defence next game.

I just don’t see any point - we’re not doing any better under Shakey.  Smith isn’t to blame for where we are, but he’s also not the guy to fix it.  I’m not sure who would have been as badly as Toadstool had sabotaged the operation, but if you were going to try and do better than Smith the time to do it would have been when they hired him, not now.

Realistically this has absolutely nothing to do with Smith, he took on a team that just had an awful attitude with just a handful of games to try and steer us away from trouble… an impossible job

It’s not Smiths fault, but I think the mistake made here is thinking all he needed to do was to get confidence back. Youri and Madders in particular remain undroppable whilst plodding around not caring. It needed more and a mini reset. The guy got it wrong, but he had such a short window to try.

We really had our chance and fate was in our hands.

We have a better goal difference but that is dwindling away.

We could have beaten Leeds if Vardy stayed onside - and really what is wrong with him always always straying offside these days.

We had it in the bag when Maddison had a chance to put us 3-1 ahead but we choked against Everton, again.

How many more times that happened this season? Too many. But those two Leeds and Everton games were monumental. If we had won those two, alone, we would have 4 extra points while each of them would have 1 less. That should put us in good stead. We would be under less pressure.

In this journey, Tielemans has done nothing much. Ndidi has been absolutely atrocious and costed us so many points this season - benching him alone and ridding of his mistakes would also have been enough to ensure survival.  Ward starting has also been a poor decision, but as corollary, the loss of Kasper turns out to be monumental. He was the spirit of the club though he was no doubt getting sick of the leaking defence in front of him.

We have a better team and many opportunities to survive the drop. But throughout the entire season we just keeps making mistakes and choking. With that, it is very painful to see that we will be relegated.

We can’t blame Smith. Apart from selecting Ndidi over Mendy this last game, I can’t fault him for his decisions. The players let him and the fans down. With Nachos out, that was also a turning point as he was clearly our best player making things happen - proven yet again despite his critics here on FT.  Smith also lost utility of Perez and Albrighton to give him extra options with Tete not up to it. Albrighton would have been particular useful with his work rate at the back and his early crosses which Smith seems to want. Just like Soyuncu, losing Perez and Albrighton at a time we need players (as Rodgers himself said) is just absolutely baffling. With Nachos out, Perez could play the same role as Nachos and I believe he could do well there (he has rarely played there at Leicester).

Hate to say it but Smith doesn't have a clue.

if you look at him/his facial expression --he does look clueless at the best of times/

BUt if a miracle happens at Newcastle - which i doubt - Smith might get the F/T job at KP

If we can’t beat Liverpool at home, no chance at Newcastle who are rampant.

Harry Potter or Harry Hill?

I'd rather have either of them than the Harry I think he's talking about. The biggest fraud in football management. (after BR however)
