These are more or less the same squad of players who recorded back to back 5th place finishes, an FA Cup and a European semi final. They've shown that they CAN do it, but they have also shown they don't care enough to pull it off since most of them will be off elsewhere regardless of what league we're in next season.

Can they do it: Yes

Will they do it: No

Would like to think that all the toxicity could be put aside today. We've been given a path out of this. It doesnt have to look pretty. A moment of magic will do. We can be that team for once this season that gets thats unexpected result and creates another twist in the relegation saga.

I empathise with feeling the need to write these posts but no.

Not been any sign of life for weeks/months, life support gets turned off tonight

Personally I wrote mine out then deleted as there's already many the same...

If the other teams were so good in this battle, they'd be out of sight. We can catch them for a reason, they've been as poor as us. All it takes is one win, which either of them have failed to do and whilst on paper we have the most difficult game this weekend, results aren't always logical. Keep the faith!!!

I think it’s more weariness than toxicity, to be fair.

We’ve had a couple of ‘must wins’ recently and put in honking performances.

We’ve stunk the league out for 90 percent of this season.

If this group don’t concede within the first 6 minutes and then maybe occasionally kick the ball to a team mate tonight, I’d take it.

But we’re expecting them to fight, scrap, snarl and bully their way to a victory? I just can’t see it with this lot, sadly.

34 points. GD may keep us up. 🙏

I'm still hoping, but I know it's unlikely.

Desperation can bring unexpected results. We’ve seen it in the past when we have been riding high. It’s hard to be positive when things aren’t going well, but the reality of today is three points will take us out of the bottom three, and our fate is very much in our hands.

Newcastle have been fantastic, but they aren’t Man City. Plus, they’re pretty much there in terms of Europe, it would take a really unfortunate swing for them to drop out of the top four.

Come on lads, two big efforts left, lets find that quality we know we have. The footballing gods keep presenting chance after chance to us, let’s take one of those, no matter how late!

There is nothing in any of the performances which indicate we have it in us to stay up - if we concede first tonight our GD could be tanked as well. Toon are no mugs despite already having virtually qualified top 4 -  and it's their last home game so will be very much up for it.

of course they can

but as has been indicated above, history tells us that they won’t

and recent history tells us even more that they don’t have the guts at the moment for the fight (or direction from the sidelines)

id love them all to prove me wrong ……but I’m not holding my breath

We'll beat Newcastle playing brilliantly tonight just because our players and club are absolute bas***rds. Determined to keep the emotional hell of this season going to the very last game and give me the hope that we can do it.
