They did last year... yet if this expansion does happen then they'll have to get used to it

No they won't.  If its booked in advance it's taken into account when the fixture are done. The fa or the prem can't override the local council or police. It's all taken into account before the fixtures are made. Just like Sheffield weds and utd don't play at home same weekend.

Friday Night.

Leicester V Blackburn / Blackburn v Leicester

2 months without football if they miss the 2 fallen pl.winners trick then they all want sacking.

Expansion won’t be happening for a while.

Rob, we've just had 8k season ticket applications despite going down.

They seemed pretty adamant it was going ahead when we last spoke to them.

At a guess, I assume our entire ability to push revolves around that expansion.

I’m aware mate. But it won’t be going ahead.

Probably won’t be happening now but if we get promoted probably jumps up the queue.

Correct

Really don't want someone like Middlesbrough, Sunderland or Southampton early on when we are still likely to be having some teething problems.

I always say, we don't won't a fellow relegated team or a promoted team.

A home game against Stoke, Rotherham, Cardiff etc would be my preferred choice to (hopefully) get us off to a winning start.

Honestly think it’s a good thing. I think we were all guilty for looking too far ahead. Anyone got an idea of the cost for the expansion? Also does anyone know the length of our loan for the training ground?

Ideally, with the financial mess the training ground has caused, surely it would be beneficial getting at least half way through the loan term for the training ground before loaning out even more money.

Especially when the price of steel has quadrupled….

Just seems like a luxury and not a necessity. Belvior drive was falling apart, a new training ground was needed… The affect financially that has had on us has been devastating and poorly planned.

Throwing in a stadium expansion as well as does not fill me with confidence.

...at the time the interest rate was ridiculously low and it was an opportunity to build the facility at a very good cost!!!

We do need the revenue from more supporters coming in and using the ground and its facilities for other than LCFC use.

If we work on £100m for the training ground and paying it back over 5 years then we cannot be too far off the end of the loan period. The club stated that they had budgeted that any relegation would have been factored into any calculations.

Once all the infrastructure has been complete we will be, to an extent, future proof, as we will have the funds available to better compete in the market place.

However, we cannot afford to stay in the second tier for too long, we are still making losses and it is essential that we find other avenues to bring in much needed revenues, which at this moment (no expansion, monies from the hotel and the use of the stadium and leisure premises) is clearly passing us by.

Any leaks yet re opening day fixtures?

I'm ITK and I've been told by a reliable source that they will send them to me tomorrow at 9am.

That's all I can say right now.

Got a feeling it will be Sunderland away....not what I'd want, a bit of a bearpit of pumped up fans, newly promoted seeing us as a scalp and I say that with no snobbery just that we were two divisions apart last season. They would be more settled than us, probably making a few additions to a winning settled side whereas our line up will probably act like they've never met.

Personally don't want a Friday night home match due to travel but likely we'll be a TV pick with, be-warned,  a commentary narrative of humbling failure and humiliation.

Edit - I seem to have jumped back a season (therapy) they haven't just come up!

You don’t pay much attention to the championship

They were in the playoffs last season. We were 9 places above them in the 92 league clubs

Whoops.....:frusty:

This is the bit where I pretend I meant Sheffield Wednesday or Ipswich, maybe Plymouth :D

To be fair I'm trying to wipe last season from my mind like it didn't exist so to me they've just been promoted!

But I do have a gut feeling it will be Sunderland....and tough!

Hope that's not away, I think there's a cup game on the following Tuesday or Wednesday to get back for!
