We simply can't just release everyone, no matter what. It's too much work to try and rebuild what we've already lost, let alone loads more.

Don’t get me wrong there’s a good few players I’d like to see us keep I just can’t see us turning down half decent bids for anyone

I am willing to give them until the end of this week for there to be at least some movement with regards to a new manager

Then go from there

If there is nothing at all then I will start to worry about how everything is going to go

Who do we think out of Us, Leeds and Southampton are the most likely to bounce straight back up?

Until anyone has appointed managers, sold players and bought in new players - no one know how anyone will do next season.

I would imagine we'll accept bits up to the point of us having not to any more. ie. The bills are covered, and I'd imagine we'll be far slower to accept bids on Barnes, compared to others.

It can be messy going down, but recently there has been a trend of clubs bouncing back. I think over half of the relegated clubs that have gone down since we were last in the Champ have finished top 6, and if anything the gap is widening. With the right summer all 3 should be fancying a shot at auto, but the level of player turnover and new managers needs to be managed really carefully.

It's way to early to be making predictions. The most important person is going to be the Manager we appoint.

Get the Manager wrong and we could be in serious trouble for a few seasons.

Then go back to the Pearson methods of doing things. I know we can't get the old staff back but we could try.

For instance where is Walsh now. ?  He could take care of recruitment.

I also have a Feeling Leeds will stick with Big Sam, which would be a good appointment. He knows players and doesn't take any crap.

I can't see how anyone can suggest we will bounce straight back.

We have a complete rebuild job to deal with, probably combined with a new manager.

Play-offs at best.

Nope.

Not on the evidence of the last 2 seasons.

A lot of business to be done and both of Leeds and ourselves need to appoint new managers. I'd trust Leeds to pluck a better manager than we could - the likes of Rutter, Summerville, Bamford, Roca could tear the championship up too.

Southampton have the basis of a young, talented squad but I think Martin is too dogmatic, they'll be round the playoffs, probably.

Us, no idea. Sign some wingers, a couple of CMs and decent manager and we'll go back up - it's not actually that difficult so naturally - we won't.

Why does everyone assume that their club will stay together? I keep having the same conversation with my nephew when he reels off the players he thinks will stay with us that realistically none of them will want to stay after taking a 35/50% wage cut… as fans I think we look at it from an emotional point of view when in reality in no other walk of life would you happily just ride out having your weekly wage cut in half (granted they’re contracted)… like us and Leeds I fully expect all 3 teams to be torn apart it’s all about how we/they re build

Because a lot of our players are proven Premier League players, or are capped for their nation team. Just they haven't performed for this club very well.

Don't get me wrong, they will lose players, but I think the core of their team will stay together unlike the core of our team whom every single one will go.

Yes JWP will go, but I still think the likes of Theo Walcott etc may stay. Same with Che Adams etc, decent players on there day but not sure they are going to be head hunted like Maddison, Barnes, Nacho, Soyunchu, Castagne etc etc etc

Southampton and Leeds fans also believe that the other two teams to them have more chance of going straight back up. Every year the relegated teams think they’re the biggest disaster to ever go down.

Its almost as if emotive fans can’t actually look at it objectively.

Burnley were in a not dissimilar situation to us last year and absolutely pissed it. Sheffield United were mostly comfortable all season with practically no investment, huge ownership uncertainty and then a transfer embargo. Lots of decisions to get right, examples of it going horribly wrong in the past so lots of work to do and it’s a big 10 weeks but the ‘I can be more miserable than you’ brigade is rather jarring. Hopefully once things start happening and come August people will have a bit more hope

Exactly right.  Kompany was appointed on 14th June which was just 47 days before the new season..  Of course, he knew every footballer in Belgium and was able to sign most of them, total summer spending £20m, plus another £15m in January.  And the two most expensive ones of that lot (Twine and Foster) hardly contributed.  So it can be done, and not that expensively.

I think you'll need a bit of a fire sale just to get the wages down.  Burnley got relegated with a wage bill of £90m per accounts, and from a note to the accounts it seems that this year it was less than half that.  Selling players has a double effect - one, reduces wages; two, generates income.  The max losses under FFP is £13m per year, averaged over 3 years, though seasons spent in the PL count for £35m per year.  (Note - this is only £5m per year if the owner isn't covering the losses, but that isn't a problem for you because of the loans that Top wrote off - that counts as capital introduced.)  The problem with running at a huge loss in hopes of promotion os that if it doesn't work out, a team can be well and truly stuffed.  West Brom are rumoured to be in that position.

The million dollar question.  Who is your Kompany?  He's the man it all revolves round.

They will both be huge threats to us, and I imagine they will maintain more of their squads than we will. We have a bigger rebuild job, but that can also have its advantages, as we get new hungry players in and a fresh start. They have more players stuck with the hangover of failure.

There are also some decent teams already in the Championship and they will likely strengthen over the summer.

Going to be tough, but we will likely be considered one of the favourites to go straight back up, especially if we hold on to players like Iheanacho, Daka, Justin, Ricardo, Souttar, etc but also get the right types of midfield players in. We need an absolute beast of a CM who has leadership qualities. That key signing could likely determine our season IMO.

We might not go straight back up but I think this is an exaggeration. The standard of the championship really isn't as high as some on here are making out.

Maybe not, but the standard of our team isn't that great either.

I think Southampton will win it, they are well positioned to make some money off sales whilst keeping the core of their squad and they've acted early to bring in their replacement manager.
