OH Leuven Thread 23/24

Overall we were the better team with chances and mistakes on both sides, especially in the first half. The win was deserved, but Kortrijk wasn't the hardest opponent either. Brys delivered what he preached, but I don't know if it will be enough to keep his job. Kiyine is such a bad player, he should have been replaced a lot earlier. He can't keep a ball or pick a pass.. and goddamnit put N'dri on from the start. He has got the balance and speed of a pitbull. Big change in dynamic when he comes on. Great job from Shingtienne in the back, I wouldn't mind it if he got a first team spot every game. Sagrado and Mendyl are twins I swear... they are so similar and very handy on the wing back. Schrijvers is weak. I hope he and Kiyine get replaced by Maertens and Misao or Banzuzi eventually. Dom was useful without standing out. And Maziz brought what we expected of him. Kudos to our fans behind both goals, they are the best! All in all a good and pleasing performance... but will it be enough to keep Brys?

What’s going on with the Thai lad?

He hasn't been officially announced. I can't find him on the players lists either and according to transfermarkt he is still part of Buriram Utd. We have a few more days until the end of the transfer window in Belgium so let's see.

Thank you, King Power, for backing our retarded coach for 4 seasons of hell, to the point the CEO quit because the owners refused to listen to the CEO who repeatedly requested the coach be fired. Speechless. Oh, and also thanks for appointing one of the people who flushed the club down the crapper to begin with, as the new CEO.

Get. Bent.

Just read this.

Surprise at OH Leuven: not coach Marc Brys, but CEO Peter Willems pays for the bad results. It is to say, he stepped up himself. Willems came over from UEFA on January 1, 2019, where he held a top job. Former chairman Chris Vandebroeck becomes CEO ad interim.

The pressure had become very high in recent weeks after the OHL fans chanted 'Willems outside' at Union. The CEO himself said earlier that the situation was difficult for him, and even that his son could no longer sleep from it. Then, and then we talk about two weeks ago, he still enjoyed the full support of owner King Power. Whether the Thai bosses pushed him to the exit today is not yet clear. Willems recently also left the board of directors of the football association.

Any idea how involved Rudkin still is with Leuven?

Both Rudkin and Whelan are still very involved with Leuven.

We were told that the decisions are made in England by Whelan, Rudkin and Top. If our board want to do something they have to wait for their approval.

For example, if we want to buy a player our board needs to make a scouting report on that player and give an estimation of the transfer fee and wages we would pay. That report is then send to England. If Rudkin, Whelan and Top approve, we can sign the player. If they reject, we can't.

This is exactly why Brys is still our manager. Our board wanted to sack him at the end of last season and again after our loss in Eupen, but the English board didn't agree.

That's a terrible level of beaurocracy. Would be so much better (for us as well, so they can spend more of their efforts on LCFC) to just give your board a budget and trust them to spend it wisely.

I'm so sorry, they used to be better than this. That sounds incredibly frustrating. And, well, stupid, quite frankly.

Just an absolute shambles isn't it. Last season confirmed some growing suspicions I had about the way we're run and I think now the cat's out the bag I just can't really unsee it.

SUPHANAT MUEANTA SIGNS WITH OH LEUVEN

Suphanat Mueanta is a 21-year-old Thai attacker who comes from the Thai top club Buriram United. Suphanat is loaned until the end of this season.

Suphanat 'Bank' Mueanta received his football training at the Buriram United youth academy. At the age of 15, he made his debut with the A-team, becoming the youngest player in the Thai league.

Suphanat also has two other records to his name. He is also the youngest goalscorer ever, both in the Thai league and in the AFC Champions League.

The forward played 101 games for Buriram United, scoring 24 goals and providing 15 assists. Suphanat has won the Thai League three times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup twice and the Thailand Champions Cup once. 'Bank' also went through all the national youth series of Thailand and has already played twelve matches for the Thai national team. He scored four goals.

What about the young African kid who scored a good few in the USA college leagues (excuse my ignorance as I can’t remember his name)

Nathan Opoku

1 goal and 1 assist in his first 4 games but then missed 2 games through injury

Should be back and available for Leuven this weekend I think
