You can add golf to that too. There’s always thousands of Irish at the Ryder/Solheim cup even if they’ve only got one representative.

Would the rugby World Cup be better if it was 16 teams? 5-team pool just doesn’t work imo. Especially when teams get a “rest”. 
 

Namibia, Romania and Chile are pretty pointless. That said Portugal and Uruguay have obviously developed significantly.

The upside is that it gives those latter teams a game at a world event against a comparable team. Chile were good in their first two fixtures.

No. We're trying to grow the sport not shrink it. 

 

Look at the development of the South American sides over the last decade, look at the strides Portugal have made, look at Fiji and Japan over the last couple of world cups.
