He has a few technical flaws but I think that stems from not playing enough when he was younger. He never went on loan often enouhh, 28 games between Dunfermline and Hartlepool were not as much experience as he needed. I think he'll iron the deficiencies out in time as he’s inexperienced for a near 25 year old.

Even Iversen first went out on loan at 21. We need to arrange good loans for players across the board at 18 and 19. Relatively Barnes and KDH got their chances fairly late - it didn’t have to be that way.

In terms of how he plays? He's actually got really good potential

Number of times he drops 6.2 out of nowhere is insane

Edit Of course it could be me that is shite. :D

Doesn't a stat saying that he's top 3 make it rather easy to disagree with someone essentially saying he's not good enough?

It does indeed, sarcasm doesn't come across very well on the internet haha

Where's the stat for parrying easy xG shots into a high xG area. Sniff. Like everything xG and statistical - doesn't tell the whole story and the eye test for Stolarczyk for me sees he's got a lot to improve on which comes with game time.

His handling is definitely a weakness. If he could improve it though, he'd be a hell of a keeper.

safe to say he's one of the better keepers in the division. How longs he out for?

Can't believe that Bazunu is back in net for Southampton. He's young, but was absolutely horrendous last time they were down here.

Another example of a club sacrificing the fundamentals of the game for possession stats.

His cross claiming is genuinely very good. He's very dominant considering his lack of experience. He's a safe pair of hands and will only improve.

Seriously how have Southampton not sorted this out with Bazunu, he had even worse stats than Danny Ward. Bloke's utter rubbish. Still's probably cost himself a job by not fixing it.

Mad that we had 3 keepers all better than Ward at the club at the same time and persisted with that fat idiot

We're doing the same again with Ayew, Daka and Faes starting ahead of the academy options.

We just start whoever has the highest wage.

He's definitely not the biggest issue, has room to improve and I think he's up there with the keepers at this level.

1 criticism is he pushes a lot back into play and the danger area around his 6 yard box. Something he needs to work on.

yea but he can pass it a bit (completion rate this season 73.2%, 3rd in the division behind Palmer and Stolarcyk)

This is to justify the mistakes made on recruitment and  wages.

That's absolutely fair, and I'm sure he will work on that. In the meantime, his defenders need to be aware of that, and compensate accordingly.

There are people out there who will try and tell you Rodgers wasn't trying to get sacked.

oh he 100% saw the mess he'd made and that was to come, had the massive payoff in mind and made deliberately bad decisions on the hope they'd sack him and he could spin it as not being backed.

Thing is, his record of leaving things in a worse state than he found them as far as recruitment structure goes (Swansea the outlier) was obvious before we appointed him, so someone didn't do their homework. Someone who's job it was maybe to oversee football operations, a director of football if you will

That is ignoring our first FA cup win though, yes he is a useless self obsessed gimp, but to suggest we would have been better off not employing him is a bit tunnel vision.

Rodgers did exactly the same trying to get sacked thing at Celtic as well, by all accounts. Probably wasn’t expecting to get called out about it though. The bloke is the very definition of self-serving and I hold him as responsible for our down fall as I do Aiyawatt and Rudkin. I remember posting on here years ago saying I had a bad feeling about him and I was, unfortunately, proved right.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Jakub, who I rate, but I see the name Rodgers and I see red 😖

My view on Rodgers, as one of the first to want him gone, was that the appointment was not the problem. The excessive contract, the control given over and the delay in removing him (the latter affected by the former no doubt) are what killed us.

I also don’t think he deserves too much credit for the cup win. Where he gets credit for me was taking it seriously with his selections in earlier rounds. But it was Schmeichel’s heroics and Tielemans wonder goal that were what won it. I actually thought Rodgers did his best to throw it away going very defensive with his subs. If Chilwell wasn’t a lazy t**t and had cut his toenails that morning, they go on to win as we had nothing left and were under siege.
