They are loving Barnes over on the Toon forum, Brenda couldn't decide whether to play him or not.

Which is ironic considering how many of them were moaning about him not being worth what they paid for him when they signed him, and how Antony Gordon was a far better player! Nothing more fickle than a football fan hey! lol

More upsetting than pleasing seeing Barnes do well as it should be for us.

I fancy him to get an England call up comfortably before the end of the season

Never got the hype with Tielemans other than he has a fancy name, do over rated

He went from sublimely great to subliminally awful for us.

I’ll have a place in my heart for him, purely for that goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Unfortunately his next move shouldn’t have been to a Premier League club.

Barnes was a potential replacement for Vardy he thrives on pacy attacks forward.  Its amazing the figures Barnes got for us as we never played ideal for him, which is why he seemed to be missing so often in games.

Always said he'd thrive on a team that players on the front foot. Unfortunately for us and him, for a good 18 months or so we were so negative. Hope he smashes it at Newcastle.

I’ve said this before, I’m eternally grateful for that fa cup winning goal,

He has good vision, good passer, yet has no pace and in games where we up against it, he went hiding

Rodgers pretty much played Barnes every game (when he was fit) in the whole time he was here

I read on here that Barnes wasn’t good enough. That we’d be better off selling him. I guess we had to in reality, but he is certainly good enough and I hope he flourishes.

No time or respect for him.

Not only did he play a dirty game,Him and his agent unsettled others.

Horrible Cvnt.

Where are all these people telling me £38m was a good deal for Barnes? Absolute disaster of a deal from our perspective.

Deal was done early which has value to it, and his value goes up now because he gets managed properly.

harvey is going to destroy some teams this year. When you consider that villa are pretty good. Imagine what they will do to teams like sheffield u and luton

he will be one that shows what he could have done if we got back to having a fully functional side.

Both him and maddison put up great numbers for 2 years whilst we were generally a tactical mess. I don’t think it’s as simple as blame them all because they were here.  He would have thrived with us if we’d kept going in the right direction it’s a horrible loss for us

Youri needs to be on the ball, he’s terrible out of possession. Very similar to Winks in that regard. Obviously he’s going to struggle away at Newcastle.

i actually think he’d be nicely suited to the role Maresca has Winks playing at the moment here.

I think Mings going off made villa less good imo
