Hopefully Nacho makes up for his shocker there last season and gets off the mark for this season.

Hopefully he starts the game on the bench.

People STILL putting KDH in their starting 11, good grief.

When the alternative is playing Ndidi deeper?

It is a winnable game and hopefully Enzo set's up as such. Ignoring all the boring self deprecation of some 'fans' on here, if Abdul starts with Casadei instead of Wilf then if expect us to be too much for a Clueless opponent on the back end of losing 5 nil !

This isn’t how it works though. To be fair, in front of their own fans who have travelled from the south coast up to Sunderland for a 5-0 drubbing, they are more likely to have a point to prove and be wounded having the break to stew on it.

Clearly they have shipped a good few goals and we have the players to get at their defence, especially if we let them have more of the ball and break fast on them. However, they have also scored more than us (10 in 5 games) so they have the ability to hurt us if we are too open also.

Armstrong (Adam not Stuart) will not let us off the hook as some of the strikers we have faced have. Che Adams loves playing us and Ross Stewart is a good goal scorer at this level.

I do agree with the changes you have said and do think we should not be afraid of them. But it won’t be an easy game and we will need to be at it as they will not be as bad as they were on Saturday!

McAteer arguably more deserving of a start than KDH. Would like to see him as an 8.

Would be great if Coady is available to start, but I’m not hopeful.

Yeh I’m leaning towards trying McAteer as the number 8. He’s got athleticism, pace, tracks back well, uses both feet and he’s got excellent close control tbf.

This is really quite intriguing, it's a different sort of opposition for us to what we've faced - they absolutely won't set up anything like the last few teams did.

I could see literally any result, a 0-0, a high scoring draw or one team beating the other very convincingly. Really hard to call.

I'm not sure about everyone saying drop both KDH and Ndidi for McAteer and Casadei.

Southampton will see more of the ball than any side we have played so far this season and they are the two most effective players at winning the ball in the middle of the park. I think we need to start with at least one of them in there.

Is this serious?

Don’t necessarily think he should as I like him so far, but as Enzo seems to be a bit more ruthless with his team selections thinking if it might be a possibility

Its because KDH is being blamed for Saturday. A lot of his passing was poor, but so much of the play was going through him and i still think he was involved in a lot of our good chances. I felt KDH was much better when Mavadidi settled in and when Vardy as making smarter runs. KDH is doing loads of pressing which i think goes unnoticed.  A bit like Madders late last year, i think hes trying too hard. We have to remember that KDH is getting to know these new players as well, and they have an extended period of time to train and work with each other before the next game.  I think its a HUGE tall order to simply replace KDH with McAteer in that central role right now, especially in a game like this.  I think thats just wishful thinking that this simply work out.

I don't think it's a possibility at all

I’m not sure it’s really been his fault but given Hermansen hasn’t been able to keep a clean sheet yet, does there come a point where Stolarcyk is given a shot in the league if he’s done well in the cup?

Has he actually made a mistake yet?

He's conceded 4 goals and they've all been pretty much unsaveable.

Add to that he's probably been one of our best and most consistent performers so far this season too.

He's given the ball away a bit but nothing major and nothing droppable really. However, Wanya was dropped after a goal and motm so you never know!

The games about winning from what you've said, and memory they have conceded a lot of goals. 9 in 2 games against Norwich and Sunderland. Norwich had 30% possession, Sunderland 31%. Clearly the most affective way to win this is to defend well and hit them fast on the break, let's see what Enzo decides.

According to FBref... Hermansen's pass completion is 87% compared to Stolarczyk's 76% so far this season, with Hermansen completing 100% of short and medium type passes (50% long).

Stolarczyk's short and medium pass completion is only a little less than Hermansen's, but when it comes to long passing he is a lot worse - just 8% completed.

Basically, he is not dropping Hermansen in favour of Stolarczyk's distribution.

According to FotMob, KDH is second in terms of chances created.   I say this with the caveat that I haven't watched a single game yet so it could be all 3 yards lay off for long range shots.  KDH also has second highest average rating as well.

A surprising stat considering the criticisms he gets on here.

Whatever he decides, it needs to start producing quality shots within the frame instead of heat checks into row Z.  Bazunu in goal should be a liability ... let's test him early and often.

Four wins from five isn't an entirely accurate reflection based on the performances so far. For this one, a high scoring draw seems fairly feasible.

I think the break is going to be a great opportunity for Enzo to work with the team. Lets hope that Tom Cannon shows well in training so that we don't see Nacho start again.
