The love in Leeds get is a joke. By population Leeds is one of the top 5 Cities in the Country but it is the only City with 1 club. Of course their support is going to be massive, they have the whole City and urban area to pick from. Plus the catchment area and basically whole of West Yorkshire is traditionally "smaller" clubs (aside from one period for Huddersfield 100 years ago). Nobody from Leeds is going to support Bradford or Halifax. Yet flip it the other way and there's a chance people from those areas support Leeds. Also on what they've won, I think probably one more trophy than us!? They had one dominant era and then popped up and won the first division in the 90's. Also don't get me started on singing about a European Cup they've never ever won.

I agree that they're nowhere near as succesful as their potential should allow and if we're measuring clubs on what they've actually won over the years, they're only really the Revie era over the likes of Newcastle tbh.

But I'll be honest, having lived here for a couple of years, I have changed a bit about how I view the club. Not in the sense that I particularly now like Leeds but I do think I "get it" in a way I didn't before.

In their own bubble they really ARE massive. I've lived in a few places around the UK and I've visited a lot more and I don't know that I can ever really recall being somewhere where the people are THIS connected to their teams.

Feels like everybody here supports United and the Rhinos, people out and about wearing shirts all the time, there's graffiti and murals everywhere, every electrical box on the road is covered in Leeds paint and stickers, the pubs are ****ing rammed whenever they play, the noise the other day near me when they got promoted was bonkers.

I know everywhere is a bit like that but it's really amplified here.

I guess how I'd explain it is that, I understand completely why everyone outside of Leeds doesn't give a **** about them and thinks Leeds fans are delusional. But I also understand why people who live here think they're absolutely massive because in the West Yorkshire bubble (and this place IS like a weird bubble) they genuinely are.

It’s exactly the same in Tyneside/Northumberland with Newcastle

Liverpool and Glasgow are kind of similar albeit with two teams in their cities

Leeds are huge underachievers tbh - same amount of major trophies as us iirc. Massive potential and I'm surprised they've not gone bigger with their extension.

That's excluding Doncaster, Hull, York etc where they draw support from too. There's a load in Sheffield, London, are whack in the East Mids too.

Is it a Yorkshire thing? God's own and all that.

I was taken aback by their obsession with all things Yorkshire during the Richard III discovery and how much they wanted to believe in untruths. It upset a few when I explained the War of the Roses wasn't a conflict between Yorkshire and Lancashire and the white/red roses are no more than modern sporting emblems. Many do seem to believe that tea is grown on the fertile land of the Dale's.

If it ain't Yorkshire, it's shite.

Mate, they even think the water here is the best tasting water in the world.

I know that sounds like a meme but it's true. lol

Derby down in 38th with less trophies than us and you’ll still get “serious football people” claim they are as big if not bigger than us

To be fair, aside from Derby fans, Forest fans and a handful of nostalgia merchants I never see anyone seriously suggest they’re bigger.

For 95% of FT users, I apologise - but do ask your Dad or Grandad...

Mexico brilliant but painful (Gerd Muller etc) 66 for me. Downhill since

It's hilarious to think that World Famous ™️ Forest have fewer points and appearances in the PL Era than Wimbledon, a club that more or less ceased to exist in the form that is being referenced over 20 years ago.

They really are a nothing club living off past glories, that lot up the road.

Hilarious stat lol

The relationship between Forest and Derby is such a love-in considering it's supposed to be a ferocious rivalry. Bizarre to watch.

Could you imagine Liverpool and Manchester United cupping one another balls to have a dig at Man City? Or Birmingham bigging up Villa's 1982 European Cup to put Coventry back in their box?

Exactly, simply doesn’t happen, especially in proper fierce rivalries like Villa-Birmingham, Forest-Derby is just not a fierce rivalry whatsoever, not even close to top 10 in the country and I’m not exaggerating.

They’d love for us to be seen as the “little brother” but no one but them actually believes it, they clung onto this idea that games between them is “THE East Midlands Derby” and they hate the fact that in the eyes of the football world there’s another club in the region bigger than at least one of them, the whole things always been a farce, 2 Championship sides who barely hate each other trying to claim they were winning some sort of East Midlands bragging rights while we were off in a higher division, winning trophies, playing in Europe, with a bigger fan base and so on. Derby fans are still deluded but the attitude change from Forest fans towards Derby and even us shows deep down they know it too.

I remember that they really didn't like it when Leicester fans referred to it as a second place play-off, but the 'rivalry' ended up being completely irrelevant as neither side were capable of troubling a trophy engraver and their peaks under Clough passed into distant memory.

It wasn't even for East Midlands pride and won't be again for a long time - Derby are more likely to be nearer worst than first next season, we're likely to be competing at the other end and Forest are likely to drop off a bit from this season's heights. We're probably a couple of years away from competing with Forest on a similar footing again while Derby need either a turbocharged upsurge or Forest to implode completely while we thrive. It's a rivalry more likely to look like Stoke-Port Vale, frankly. Hence why Forest have been absolutely obsessed with us for a good ten years now - we've been the team in the region to get at for a generation or more.

Why do they always have to tell you they are from Yorkshire,as if we are meant to be impressed .However,I will give them Robin Hood they can claim!

The all time Premier League table gives the best indication of success in the modern era...

Excellent - this has given us all something to follow with interest next year.

Our gap to Leeds is currently 23 points. So we need Leeds' inevitable relegation next season to happen with a points total less than the gap – whatever it will be at the end of this season.

Huge potential but it wasn't that long ago they weren't even filling it. Some of the away trips I've done there they never even had the upper tier open.

They have fans all over as well because of their success in the 70's. Leeds were the best team in the Country for a lot of middle aged people now. That then gets passed down to kids. No different to the Manchester clubs now.

Lots of clubs attendances were crap in the early 10s, there's been a complete boom in the number of people going to the football - it doesn't mean a club doesn't have big support. We had a great season in 09/10 and averaged under 24k, unfathomable now.

What an arse, digging out our fans when he could just say good job Enzo. I’m an Enzo fan but this is pathetic.

Chelsea have spent a billion - just because their team is younger, doesn’t give them a free pass for higher expectations.

Its not really an achievement or anything to boast about, a billion pound squad, winning it was bare minimum. Like beating your kids at sport and parading around afterwards.

Ballbag is really bizarre when it comes to Enzo, he must have posters of him all over his house, its very creepy.

The guy is a douche bag!! Pathetic tweet and cheap aim. Enzo has done an incredible job to be fair to him, but this is not needed.

He hasn't exactly done an incredible job though.

An OK job and probably just about got away with the minimum.

I know a lot of Chelsea fans and most have been fed up with him this season.

And even then, Chelsea fans still hate his football, and as of a month ago, the majority on their forum wanted him gone.

A tin pot trophy to say ‘I told you so’ says more about Enzo’s backers than anyone else
