In fact if I was a fan of any other Championship team I would be frustrated by knowing that one of the two automatic promotion spots is around 90% a done deal by a team like ours. This is a team with good players, either experienced in PL football or talented enough to be competitive in PL. 

That said, if Enzo takes seriously the FA Cup and we have a clash against an average PL side we'll have a better picture where we're standing especially tactically.

But the manager has calculated the benefits outweigh the costs (keeps possession, pulls opposition players out of position, can tire the opposition, can be used against counter attacks……)

 

Against Blackburn I thought in the 1st half we got duped into adopting their gung ho attitude. We were much better when we passed it around in a slower more composed way. 
 

moreover, I don’t think we actually have the players to play any differently now. Rightly or wrongly, the club had fully supported the manager and his footballing philosophy. 

 

This. Under Rodgers we tried something similar but then rarely got the ball forward from our defence and we seemed to lack the confidence to play out from the back and then just played it repeatedly sideways and back. At least now, despite Mads error, we seem to be getting to grips with this style and as you say, it draws the opposition front line onto us, leaving space behind and in midfield.

He had better take a break from watching us then, while Enzo is manager, because it don't matter who we have in goal, we will continue to play that way while Enzo is here.

Did they put up that Hermansen has the best save % in the division too? Given we signed him predominantly for his skill with the ball at his feet, he's got a very rounded game. Another who is too good for this division imo.

Reading through this thread, I get a bit wary of all the "we've won it/we're not even at our best/wait until we really start playing/we're gonna piss the league" comments. 

 

Sure, we are top of the (poor) league but I never like to be over-confident. A lot can happen between now and next May.

 

For now, I'm just enjoying most, but not all, of what I am seeing. I think it's in our own and Maresca's hands to win the league. other teams will have their purple patches and become a threat to our expectations.

 

I hope we don't let that get to us. I'm confident in our manager to keep the positivity going even when some on FT don't.

Damn if making a single error is dropped and banished to the phantom zone then what punishment for Ward (who's competition winner style of play is why we're in this division) and Iversen (who chucked in a couple at Fulham).
