Is there a reason there’s so little chat on here about Israel? Not even a thread. Is it deemed too sensitive a topic? What’s happening is absolutely horrific. The images from Rafah are hell on earth.

Because what else is there to say at this point?

It just doesn’t seem to have as big a presence on the forum as, for example, Ukraine did. It’s abhorrent and yes, I don’t particularly want to talk about it but I’m just surprised that’s all. We seem to find 10000s of things to carry on talking about with regards to a silly game where people kick a ball about. I suppose once you’ve seen a few dead babies you’ve seen them all? I just wondered if I’d missed most the chat, it just seemed odd.

It was discussed...

The thread got deleted as people didn't play nice...

The discussion moved into the news thread...

The posts got deleted as people didn't play nice...

It's not a banned topic as far as I'm aware, it's just one of those subjects that tends to be divisive and just ends in fights and bans.

That makes sense. Thank you.

It’s an incredibly emotional topic (understandably)

from time to time there is a fairly dispassionate discussion on the politics and strategy of the region.  If you can remove yourself from the grimness of the war then there is stuff to talk about but I get that it’s tough to do that.

I’m trying to get my head round all these protesters marching against tourists yesterday in Majorca and a few other places , 15,000 so no small gathering and they are promising more.
it seems an impossible problem to solve but I do understand if the local people can’t afford to live where they grew up although if you take tourism out then surely most of the jobs would disappear.

im guessing it’s all the big holiday companies buying all the homes up and Airbnb’s that’s the problem.

I think there can be a big disparity regarding how people feel about it as well in terms of scale - for some it’s a gigantic, passionately felt issue, to others it’s “just another conflict”. In fact even saying that I reckon the former could feel anger rising with even the concept of the latter.

And I say that as someone who’s really part of the latter. Which is why I generally try not to comment (I sometimes fail) because I know anything I say on it could be deeply upsetting to others.

But I think that’s why, out of everything, it’s possibly the thorniest of issues out there. I remember the Covid thread was great for information. The Ukraine thread is generally civil because at least there’s agreement on the level of importance involved. I can only see an Israel/Palestine thread ending in upset and anger.

I’ll freely share my opinions about football (Pearson is God), religion (he doesn’t exist), or politics (**** the Tories). I wouldn’t dream of venturing my opinion on trans issues or Israel. The former because I will simply call people *****, the latter because everyone will call everyone *****.

Unfortunate as sure an announcement could have been made but would you not let the airline know before the dangers to your daughter health and maybe check it’s safe to travel  ?

The family could have handled that much better.

You can’t just turn up to a flight and make the announcement there and then for no peanuts to be consumed… and I understand the airlines position on this… what if that’s the only snack people brought with them?  How could the air.ine enforces this. Search the personal belongings of every passenger on the plane? Confiscate peanuts? What would have happened if the airline had made that announcement  and then a passenger eats peanuts and the kid goes anaphylactic? They would have sued the airline, that’s what.

Give the airline plenty of warning, the airline can  warn all passengers ahead of time, further instructions could have been given at the gate and everyone could have  had a safe trouble free flight.

I’m allergic to *OPCs.

I wish airlines would take this more seriously. If they implemented a complete ban it’d make me the happiest traveller.

Sending a billionaire a week to his live streamed crushing ought to be a compulsory activity.

The attack on Rafah is truly abhorrent. Fvck. There’s probably no hope for us as a species.

Definitely think it’s time to give the chimpanzees a go at running Earth. Humans clearly ****ed up our opportunity.
