I think I probably know the answer buuuuttt...

Do we have any remaining professional footballers that will have played at Filbo?

I've had a look and there are a few still playing that could have had a shout - Roque Santa Cruz being the best bet. He's still going at 41 but I think he dodged playing under a Bentley's Roof.

The criteria would be to have played in a league or cup game against Leicester.

There must be one left.

I think the nearest you'll get is Kev Ellison who played in that era but didn't play at Filbo, and he's not pro anymore, he's playing in the North West Counties League.

The last game was the 11th May 2002. Milner made his debut for Leeds in November 2022.

So 21 years ago. In theory, an 18 year old youth player would now be 39.

I’ve had a quick look at the active goalkeepers over 38 years old and non of them played at Filbert Street.

Were the reserve games played at Filbert still at that point? Just wondering if any players that could be 36+ might make the cut.

Graham Stack played for Chesham United last year but was an unused sub for Arsenal in 01-02.

Scrolled through the teams that played us that season and can't see anyone else fitting the bill. Konchesky last played non-league three years ago.

What about the Tranmere goalkeeper who played against us in the league cup final he could have done?

Don't think we were ever in the same division as them at the time he played for them.

He was at Bayern at the time we ended at Filbert Street.

I reckon the best chance would be the England U21 game v Mexico?? I’m sure that got played just before Filbo closed… Could there be a player involved who is still active now?

Milner perhaps? Or some random Mexican player?

England: Chris Kirkland (S.Bywater), Luke Young (S.Wright), L.Naylor (Matthew Upson), T.Bramble (C.Riggott), John Terry (M.Taylor), David Dunn (M.Wilson), D.Prutton (D.Cadamarteri), Jermain Defoe (Jay Bothroyd), M.Christie (T.Benjamin), F.Ameobi (J.Pennant), S.Davis (P.Vernazza).

Jermaine Defoe might be the closest, played last year fore Sunderland.

Jay Bothroyd was still playing in Japan recently, not sure if he is now.

Chris O’Grady is another shout, would have played reserve and youth games at Filbo? And still playing I believe

Milner's record-breaking goal was Boxing Day '02 - after we'd moved. Remember it being on 5 Live as we were parking up on Saffron Lane before we played Ipswich.

Guess his first appearance against us would have been the following season?

Rab Douglas is still a registered player for Arbroath I think.

He played for Celtic in the friendly against us at Filbert Street.

😂 he was passed it in 2005!

Looking at our reserves/youth team - the answer is most likely Richard Stearman if you allow ressie games

Tomi Petrescu is still playing in the Finnish Second Division. I know he played at Filbert Street for the reserves or U18s cos I watched him!.

15th November 2001

Filbert Street hosted Walkers Intwrnational Tournament. England Under 16s lost to Germany 2-0. Tom Heaton  and Aaron Lennon both played for England. Netherlands and Spain also played on the same day.
