The problem with this, is it’s just naive from the club.

We could have stopped working on a real deal for the lad because Bologna have got him on a nice loan because we think they actually might trigger it. The never had any intention of signing him. The only way they would, is if his value doubled whilst there.

A waste of everyone’s time

If he’s impressed out there then another Italian club (with more than some magic beans and a packet of hula hoops)  may be interested

But the reality, is the next guy will line up at the chump store and offer us another loan with option.

There’s no way he is at a better standard than where he’s currently playing.

I’m assuming they paid a fee to load him, then covered the wages at best.

I could see him being utilised as an option at LB/LCB.

we need two in that position and I’m not sure on Doyle

I wonder if VKs reluctance in the summer was due to the league we are in

Position was the big thing quoted.

Didn't enjoy the fact he couldn't bomb on offensively

He’s been disappointing by all accounts for Bologna.

That said, if we’ve paid £12m up front for him, then could recoup that, it would be best used to sign Doyle long term.

After Praet and now Kristiansen, we need to stop dealing with Italian clubs. We always have an option to buy which they clearly are never going to take up, even if they do well, as none of them have a pot to piss in. Yes we'll agree to an option to buy for £14m but when it comes to it, we'll offer you £2m. Same with Turkish clubs, no money so no chance of getting a decent fee out of them for any signings. It seems the only teams outside the prem that have money are the Saudis and the European cartel of Real, Barce, Bayern and PSG.

Ironically we're pissing about over a £500k loan fee for a signing from an Italian club. We're hardly a model club in terms of negotiation are we.

Of course we are. Learnt from the Italians to be utterly unrealistic bastards.

If it's not overly apparent that the people within the club in charge of negotiations aren't fit for purpose then it'll never be to some. We should be more aggressive with any Italian club about obligations etc. These flimsy options-to-buy clearly aren't working.

Forgotten all about this geezer.

Me too until I saw him playing against Milan on Saturday. Thought he looked quite good.

I would sign Doyle and move him to CB in the prem and then bring back Kristansen for competiton for Justin

He doesn’t want to play within our system is the issue.

Beg to differ, but it soooooo wouldn’t! Doyle is slow and cumbersome and would be battered in a higher league. IMHO, obvs 😂👍
