One thing that should be said is that training in Italy is stupidly intense. They are used to a culture of absolutely running players into the ground. If a team lost and the owner wasn’t happy about it they would force them into training the next day for running drills as punishment for example. It’s only fairly recent that sport science has started to really be respected and embraced there.

Sensi is a hell of a player and as long as we look after him we should reap the benefits of his signing.

Looks to me like he played 30 times last season for Monza who finished  mid table in Serie A. Not exactly 'crocked for the last 4 years. Seems like they wanted to sign him but couldn't afford him or Inter didn't want to sell. We haven't really backed a massive dud yet under Enzo. Doyle, Mavididi, Winks, Fatawu and Cannon have been gold dust while Akgun and Casadei are starting to come good. Based on that i wouldn't mind Sensi coming in as a back up option who can do what Enzo wants in terms of passing the ball.

I think I just have PTSD from the like of Bertrand!

My worry is we always seem lumbered with a long list of deadwood and the risk of adding to it as it will be impossible to move on if it doesn't work out.

1 player in isolation is fine, but when you add them to a pile of Ward, Iversen, Praet Thomas, and Soumare consume a big chunk of wages collectively.

But then again, it could be an inspired move if we can get him fit and firing.

I assume we only have a sniff at signing him because of Enzo.

But they're all players we don't want, Sensi is one we do. And the aforementioned were either brought in a couple of heads of recruitment ago or came through our youth system.

Sensi has great feet, a fantastic passing range, good vision, a handful of Italian caps and a decent amount of Serie A experience.

He's incomparable in quality to everyone you've just listed and he's rumoured to cost us about 1/7th of what we paid for Danny Ward or Praet and about 10% of what we paid for Bouba.

Just seems kinda low risk to me except for the fitness issues and they aren't as bad as I feel people are making out. Easy to forget guys like Vardy and Ndidi usually have a few spells on the sideline every year. That's why you have a squad.

Bertrand was always an absolutely stupid signing. I don't think at his absolute best, at the peak of his career, he was really good enough for the team he were supposed to have when he signed. Let alone at the twilight of his career. Meanwhile, Sensi at his best isn't far off Madders and would comfortably be the most technically gifted midfielder in our current squad.

I know you've got to be proactive and maybe he's done this to put pressure on the club, but I'd be surprised if we'd be pushing for Sensi if it was that unlikely we're going to be able to make any signings this month.

If things were very tight we'd need to sell and I don't think it's a need to sell but more it's only right we move players on if we are bringing others in. £2m across 4 years is £500k each year in the accounts. If we are that close to the limit then we'd be frantically trying to sell this month.

potentially the club are being cautious and only making financial deals that would work if we ended up staying down.

My personal guess is this is purely a praet out sensi in situation and if he, or torino p*ss about again it won’t happen.  Can’t carry both of their wages

Yeah that's a logical deal to do. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen and Praet stays.

The fact that Enzo actually acknowledged Sensi by name makes it sound like he's confident that he'll be in the squad during this window. I was expecting a bland 'We are always interested in good players' type of response.

That's good to hear so.  He definitly looks like exactly what we need in midfield to complement Winks.

“#Leicester insists on Stefano #Sensi , outside the project #Inter . Maresca asked for an Italian midfielder. There was a survey for #Maggiore , but #Salernitana said no. We are working on an agreement with Sensi for a two and a half year contract.”

Maggiore was injured more than Sensi last season!

2 and a half year contract is better

I just read it that Sensi is pretty much coming in on the cheap and we'll see a couple go out, maybe on loans, but that's about it.

Too many Italian sources are acting like Sensi is a done deal, including Fab, for there to be no real weight behind it and it's a transfer that makes general sense when you think about it. I'm pretty confident it's happening.

We don't exactly need to free up a massive amount of budget to make it happen either.

Anyone who can play 29+ games for Monza last season has to be a good addition.

Yes agreed, Lets just hope his injuries are behind him. Though given his quality and the price mentioned it's definitely worth a punt.

I think with all his experience at Monza he's really tyred and tested. He'll lap it up here and might even overtake some of the other players before the finishing line. No doubt when we pit him against your average Championship player, it'll look like they've been left on the starting grid, he's got just the drive we need. It's a formula one can get excited about, let's just hope this transfer doesn't stall!
