Forster has been around a while and probably never been told to play like that  for most of his career and it showed.

This exactly! It's not actually his fault, at least not fully. It's Ange to blame. It's like putting me now to play pro basketball and telling me to do stepbacks, gathers etc when back in the 90s and early 00s all these were called as travelling right away.

I know Forster or any Forster out there has some pride and doesn't feel like retiring but if I was on his shoes I would have given a post match interview and say honestly that what my manager asks me to do is completely new to me.

Tbf I really feel for him and it's shocking how Ange is exposing him. If they're allowed by the rules they should call up a GK from their academy or whatever as these youth GKs are trained now to play with the ball.

His kicking has never been any good anyway. I can remember seeing him against us plenty of times in his career and if the ball went back to him you know it could end up anywhere.

I’ve announcing my retirement round now if I’m Forster.

Harsher on Forster he’s still fine at fundamentals stopped playing like he’s ****ing Neuer in net though, that Turkish fella some money laundering or somet is going on there

Regardless of his footwork, Forster's a pretty poor keeper anyway. Given his phsyical advantages he could have had a much better career.

He's the equivalent of Akinbiyi or Elvis Hammon to me, he's got the physical attributes that allowed him to reach the top level, but my god his fundamentals are so far below the top level.

The fundamentals? he booted a shot away like I do at 5 a side when I’m in goal lol.

And this is what gets me, it's fine if a manager wants to play a certain way, but don't play a certain for the sake of it when you haven't got the players capable or comfortable with doing it.

Play to the strengths of the players you have available.

But no, it's a one size fits all way of playing and "we play this way no matter what, even if we're shit at it" attitude.

The funny thing is, I seen someone post the other day, you've got the likes of Russell Martin and Ian Evatt, two examples, no nonsense defenders in their day, all of sudden they become managers and are preaching this possession based game, arguably costing them their jobs or certainly being put under heavy scrutiny.

To me it looks like a lot of managers nowadays have way less knowledge about football tactics than fans. They have this elitist, arrogant approach to the game: "Oh, ah, you know this is how I want my team to play, this is my style of football". Well, guess what, for your style of football you need certain quality players to implement it. You can't teach Shaq (back then) or Giannis to shoot 3 pointers in basketball, you adapt your game to the personnel you have.

If you want to play in a certain way (your way) you get rid of all the players that can't do it by nature or skill or whatever. Beforehand you submit a plan to the board (3yr-5yr) and if they agree it's up to you to make it work. If you fail you resign. But noooo, they won't resign, they stay until the sack to get the pay out. Snakes all of them.

You have keepers of the future picked for their footballing skills first and if they can save a shot too then so be it .

Same with defensive players and defending .

So often when Newcastle are discussed their last major honour is quoted as 1955 FA Cup. I would be miffed if we had won the old Fairs Cup as they did in 1969 not to be counted. It was certainly a big thing at the time

Loved Newcastle when they had Keegan as manager and the game at Filbo when there was a pitch invasion at the end was my first season ticket year I think.

Cant believe a club that big with passionate  fans (who have to travel all over the place ) havent won feck all for donkeys years.

Hope they win this rather than Arsenal
