Southampton and Leicester show interest in Slovenia midfielder Timi Max Elsnik after his impressive display against England at Euro 2024

Southampton and Leicester City are showing an interest in Slovenia international midfielder Timi Max Elsnik.

The 26-year old, who started out at Derby County, has been starring for Olimpija Ljubljana and his form earned him a starting spot in Slovenia's Euro 2024 squad.

He was part of the side that thwarted England in their goalless draw last week and was named in the Euros' Team of Group Stage Matchday Two following his performance in Slovenia's 1-1 draw with Serbia.

Elsnick will be key once again as his country take on Portugal on Monday.

Lazio and Lyon are also interested in Elsnick but the £5.5million asking price has alerted Premier League sides Leicester City and Southampton as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of their top flight return.

Any good?

No and he has played in England before in the lower leagues (we're talking League 2) and couldn't quite cut it there.

Bit harsh to say that, he left England when he was 21 after a few decent loan moves. Players develop at different ages, since his loan moves he’s gone on to play international football and play in the Champions League and score a few goals in European competition.

another in the 5 million ish bracket. I like the prices linked with us so far although can’t say I know much about the players if they are any good!

there’s a balance. I remember the last time watford were in the prem they signed lots of players in that range, I hadn’t heard of any of them before and can’t remember them now… so sometimes you get what you pay for.

No.

That’s irrelevant as far as our Recruitment strategy is concerned.
