I don't think Buonanotte is more than a £45/50m player. Dani Olmo went for not much more in the summer.

I agree, I think the Premier League has had it's peak in terms of player prices. I think the PSR rules have put a stop to it. Now every club has a reason to sell players.

Brighton could get into Europe and improve their first 11 simply by selling Buonanotte and reinvesting. I think they'd have a hard time turning down an offer of 40-50m unless Facundo really does go nuts this season.

Depends. If he’s getting 15+ G/A in the prem, at 19. I think you’re looking at a lot more as he’d be a long term investment for a bigger club.

At the moment we’re higher in the food chain, but we all know how football goes in cycles. This is our moment in the sun, and hopefully we can win our first ever trophy in the coming seasons and much as you guys did, disrupt the Sky6 for a few years.

I think the comparisons with yourselves and our recent past are obvious.  'Doing a Leicester' used to be what newly promoted and smaller clubs would aspire to, but we should also be a salutary lesson in how quickly it can go wrong.  I guess 'doing a Leicester' means something different these days.

You're right, this is Brighton's time in the sun.  I am grateful that at least we made our time pay with an fa cup and that miraculous title.  I would like to see Brighton win something.  They're a likeable club but moreover, it gives hope to smaller clubs (by Premiership standards) of what can be achieved in a way that we used to and aspiration is what it is all about for fans everywhere.

We saw the facundo tonight that a brighton fan friend described. Trying to do much, running into blind holes and frustration getting the better of him. He was very poor tonight

Hiya, this is what I wrote back on Page 4, before he’d played for you just after he signed.

I’ve edited the post down to show the relevant parts.

He is considerably physically stronger than when he joined as a 17 year old, and is surprisingly dogged and robust in the tackle. He is a reasonably short player at 5’9, but isn’t lightning fast. I’d describe his pace as moderate by PL standards - he won’t skin anyone. He is however in the Messi mould (in style, if not ability!) and has excellent close control and dribbling skills. He is not afraid to take on long shots and has scored a couple of cracking goals for us.

He did have a tendency to sometimes over play in our system under De Zerbi, and would regularly dribble into dead ends before chipping an ineffective cross, or losing possession. However, he is still learning and sometimes would be the player to at least try creative things - often unsuccessfully - to unlock a defence.

He plays primarily as a right winger for us, and has filled in at right wing back. He can also play left wing and at number ten. He is not a pacy, traditional winger and is more of an inside forward. He consistently cuts in from the right wing onto his preferred left foot, crossing to the far post and attempting shots from range. Think a wide David Silva in style, constantly coming into the middle and not holding width.

He has a very impressive workrate, and runs his socks off in the press and tracking back. As mentioned, he’s surprisingly good in the tackle and works hard not to be luxury player. He will serve you well with workrate and team ethic.

You can still tell at times he is only 19 years old with not actually quite that much Prem experience

Still been one of if not our best players this season though and will earn us way more points than he loses us - last night will just be a good learning opportunity for him

Wont have helped him last night that Forest were seemingly allowed to get away with being all over for him throughout the match as well

Was still by far our best creative outlet bar a few brief glimpses from El Khannouss.

Bounanotte made 2 very good passes 1st half that should have been better finished and he'd have been praised for it.

Frustrating night though, he's a street fighter who's passionate and you see it with the way he carries himself. Nowt wrong with it.
