You could make a good argument that sorting out defensive organisation is more of a priority than trying to focus on playing more front foot and leaving yet more holes to exploit… especially given our place in the food chain these days, which is firmly at the foot of the table. Would snap your hand off for 17th any day, the gap between the leagues is a chasm now. 

People need to understand that being more positive doesn’t mean going gung ho. Every time Cooper has tried to firm up defensively with substitutions or tactical changes it’s invited pressure and led to us not being able to see out games. Allowing teams to attack us is not prioritising defensive organisation. Not many defenders in the league could handle 36 shots without conceding.

 

Playing Ayew instead of Fatawu is not prioritising defensive organisation either. It hinders us defensively and offensively.

I genuinely can’t and hated how Barraclough on WYS said how we should look to pick up wins against Southampton/Ipswich etc as they’ll be down there but made excuses for Cooper and said it’s too early to question his position at the club.

 

The Palace and Everton results/performances still leave a sour taste in my mouth.

The idea that he is a pragmatist is a hideous myth.

 

He's a very limited coach who plays an ugly brand of football, which is often mistaken for 'playing to the players' strengths' or 'necessary against strong opposition.'

 

That argument would have more teeth if we'd set up negatively against Arsenal but positively against Everton. Instead, we look terrified of everyone and have a clue about no-one.

See, the problem is that people think that not playing possession football is somehow pragmatic. Pragmatic football isn't a style, it's playing to what you've got available and what is infront of you. This isn't pragmatic, it's as dogmatic as Enzo was, except Enzo was dogmatic about a style that actually suited the squad he had to pick from.

This is it. 

 

'Pragmatic' would be setting up to defend against Arsenal with solid organisation and pace going forward to hit them on the break, but with genuine attacking intent from the outset at home against Everton to get in the faces of a team low on confidence and form, trying to make them wither early doors.

He would have been more cut throat with Rodger’s and we’d still be in and around European places so we wouldn’t have got ourselves in this situation. But I think he’d get rid of Cooper in the here and now - the results and performances are one thing but he just doesn’t fit. We’ve gone up a league, but somehow got a poorer manager - I can’t imagine Vichai letting that happen.
 

I Genuinely think Enzo with last season’s squad would do better than Cooper this season.

This is just a waiting game now. Cooper will be sacked, but when?  Likely we will hold out too long again to no one’s benefit. The man is useless, spineless and clueless. I mean have a bloody go. What have you got to lose. His current ‘strategy’ is chocolate teapot level. Just bang out an attacking team, unleash the dogs and see what happens. 
 

We can certainly try to be compact whilst offering a fast threat on the counter.  I’m actually missing Enzo, which is frankly depressing.

Palace and Everton raise a lot of red flags. Everton probably more so considering the decision not to isolate Young. Hideous.

We've failed to adequately replace Maddison & Dewsbury-Hall, but that doesn't mean we have nothing. Our wingbacks have the ability to attack with Fatawu, Mavididi & Vardy. Skipp & Winks can drive us forward. We've signed Buananotte & El Khannous with that potential, plus have a possible next breakout player in Alves. There's more than enough capability to at least attempt to take the game to most teams, especially the likes of Everton who we all but parked the bus against...

We stick with him, we go down and lose 100’s of millions in revenue.

 

We recruit one of the obvious 5 that have been consistently listed by myself and others on here and we more than likely would stay up.
