If everyone who was convicted of indecent images of children offences were sent to prison, you'd need to double the number of prisons. Suspended sentences are typical in these cases. Whether that's right or wrong, is probably another discussion, but it is the way it is. No, there is absolutley no discussion needed whatsoever. Nonces belong in prison away from the general public, and thats them being let off lightly 3

The majority of politicians across the political divide are all on the make. You've only to go back to MPs 'Allowances & Expenses' scandal to see what they were up to and my guess is very little has changed. The worse thing is Labour have always stated they are on the side of the "working" man/woman, what a joke!! 1
Foxdiamond Posted 16 September 2024 Posted 16 September 2024 There is speculation concerning older person's bus pass. Often the press states that passes are available to those over 60. This is true for those living in London and I believe the devolved governments but is not true in the rest of England. The pass is only then issued to people of retirement age currently 66.

I didn’t have defending Owen Jones on my to do list today, but hey-ho. In fairness to him, the allegations made by the Sun were nothing to do with this case whatsoever. What he’s been sentenced for today came about because the police found he’d been sent images by a nonce they were investigating in a separate case. Were the initial allegations indicative of some underlying, errr, tendencies? It sure looks like it now. But Jones is right that what was raised by the Sun was found not to be criminal and the way that panned out wasn’t great. It just later turned out that there was criminal behaviour similar to this, but wasn’t uncovered completely independently. And having defended him, to balance it out and make myself feel better, I’d also like to add that Owen Jones is pr!ck. 5

Totally ruined. That's no defence of him,.but it is probably fair to consider when sentencing. Age as well play a part ? He had admitted being wrong and had the reputation trashed . 1

The case aside, I think the concept of being ruined is quite a fascinating thought to recover or rehabilitate from (for me at least,. probs not quite as fascinating for Huw Edwards and Gary glitter) Like we all play the game of 'what would you do if you won the lottery? - buy a place in the sun etc etc' ....but this being the opposite; how does someone react to complete and total reputational ruin? 1

At a quick think the options are to clear off to say, rural Sweden/Norway who seem to have a relaxed attitude to crime and might be more tolerant for reintegration into society. Or, spend a year at home in your flat learning Spanish and clear off to remote Paraguay and live a simple farm life and hope nobody gives a shit. Once upon a time, didn't desperate men run off to the french foreign legion...join up,. no questions.asked? No easy options to reinvent yourself with that level of fame.
Izzy Posted 16 September 2024 Posted 16 September 2024 Sad to hear that Gary Shaw has died. Remember watching him as a youth being a key part of that Villa 81/82 European Cup winning team. 3

The settlers are protected by the IDF and rarely charged with any crime. I have family working in Palestine for aid and medical agencies and they're witnessing these things on a daily basis. I'm not posting further on this, especially on these threads for obvious reasons.

Almost as much as austerity which Labour also tacitly supports.
