We had a chance to go 8 points clear a few weeks ago...and now we're 3 behind.

They're kicking on, we're stagnating.

3 could become 6 or 7 very very quickly

Say we went that 8 points clear, at this stage, with our squads, is really realistic to believe at some point that would’nt have been eaten up ? We were always going to wire on this. The squad is where it’s at but this season will be about ups and downs, no steady part to the season.

We messed up 22/23 as we left our final up too late. We cannot do that this time.

Agreed but we’ve also come off 3 games against far superior opposition. The wolves result is the only game in which we should’ve got something this season and we didn’t.

The next 6 are massive for me.

Exactly this, we are either gonna get a bounce and be very positive come the end of February or cut adrift in no doubt of which league we will play in next season by March. There isn't a middle road, there only was one 2 years ago due to having a top 10 team playing like a championship team.

I'd like to think it could have done a lot for us momentum-wise, and the opposite for Wolves, but that's purely academic now.

We can't afford to get cut adrift but the last 3-4 games suggest we're heading that way.

I'd love to be proven wrong but something needs to change quickly.

Which we will see with results in the next 3 games, I look at our next 8 games and with the exception of Arsenal at home on 15th February believe we can get a result in 7/8. Whereas the last 5 games on paper the reality looked more like 1/5 games where we had a chance of getting something.

I admire your optimism but we Just aren’t good enough

Looks like Ipswich signing Godfrey. Good player at the back. What have we done so far - nothing.

Have you learnt nothing yet. Give them 2 weeks before we start saying ’we need outgoings before we can bring someone in’.

Perfect time to remind everyone that Neville was expecting Man Utd to finish 3rd with Ten Hag to be the manager to watch.

Let’s be honest, he was error prone at Everton and in and out of the team. Not particularly an improvement on the 4 we currently have so I’m not disappointed by not being in for Godfrey though I do share the concern that we are going to leave it late. Again.

To be fair things can change quickly with a couple of results.

Ipswich have a terrible record of conceding late goals, cost them a lot of points.

like us and our errors leading to goalslol

That Fulham goal is massive for us - only 2 points in it instead of 4 - that’s huge and it dents Ipswich a little bit - don’t get me wrong good point for them and another one on us but 3 would have been a disaster- just 1 win from going above them - it’s not even close to being all over yet

Don't often want a Liverpool win but I'm fully still enjoying the Man Utd ruin. Long may it continue and I hope they get spanked today (but no Salah goal involvements.)

It looks like the promoted three will be going back down again. Wolves, Everton etc. are decent enough to get five to six more wins. and  will get enough points to get to high thirties. Ipswich will get low to mid 30s and we’ll do well to get to 30. Southampton maybe 15-20.

Genuine question:

Do the likes of Brentford, Fulham, Palace and Charlton etc have many core fans or are large percentages tourists?

Fulham and Palace definitely do.

Of course.

Things change quick. We have better fixtures in the next 5 on paper. Who knows what can happen.

Liverpool’s atmosphere is absolutely shit - in their biggest game of the season. How is the myth that they are the “best fans in England/the world” so widespread?
