Emery has to be one of the most underrated managers in the league/in the World. He became a meme just because he pronounced some words in his second language wrong.

I would like to see him go on and win a trophy in England. He's a likeable guy.

Definitely, and I think we vastly underestimate his achievements in Europe. If an English or English based manager had won that much he'd be lauded for years and years.

He's been painted with the language thing and his time at Arsenal, which was always going to be a hiding-to-nothing job in being the direct successor to Wenger.

Villa are lucky to have him and one thing is for sure, they're making the most of him.

Seeing Villa and Newcastle do it in recent years (and West Ham getting the conference league job done) knowing it could have been us pains me every time.

Still an absolute travesty we didn't quality for the CL at least once out of 2019/20 and 2020/21. Vards deserved more than one venture at the top

Vardy has won the top flight, FA Cup and Community Shield. I think he's happy enough. It would have been nice to see him in more CL campaigns but, at the end of the day, trophies are worth more.

Frank Lampard's just as shit if not worse. Those two are probably the only managers I’d rank below Cooper.

Emery is definitely up there with the best right now. Thomas Frank is another top-quality manager who deserves recognition.

frank has actually got top 4 with chelsea when they had a transfer embargo, fa cup final, derby playoffs, everton survival.

he's better than gerrard.

Yeah 40 odd years but it seems like the former giant has awoken again. They're quite good tbf.

They shown potential in MON years, but the top four at that time was too hard for them to break into.

The Champions League is essentially a trial run for the super League.

Boring, weighted towards the historically big clubs, convoluted, and no real jeopardy.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Wasn't treated well by Arsenal, they seemed very quick to pull the plug on him soon as things got shaky. He managed to get them to a Europa League Final, only to beaten by fellow English side. Their first European final since 2006, Arteta moves in their... yep he's done a good himself getting Arsenal in the title race in the last three seasons, the closest for a long time.... however he hasn't got Arsenal to a final since he won the fa cup in 2020 and no silverware since 2020... not counting the community shield. Does make you think was Emery already starting to get things in motion and would they have won in a title if he remained. Who knows...? Probably he went to Arsenal the wrong time.

Villa is the right size club as would someone like a Newcastle United, clubs with ambitions but with less expectations compared to the main elite. If you look back at Emery's success the clubs he's won with have not exactly been the main elite. If Emery was to leave for a Man United, he'd struggle I don't think the United supporters would appreciate or buy into his philosophy similar to Arsenal, soon as form dips the fans turn.

This new format is rubbish. Too many teams, matches and after 8 games we still have 24 out of 36 teams having a chance of going into the last 16.

Nations league is also garbage. Too many games and international breaks, and all we get is the likes of Klopp and Guardiola moaning about too many domestic games. The fact is there is far too much European and international football now, we shouldn’t be reducing the amount of league and cup games we have for this.

Certainly lacks the exciting of the group format, no real danger. Madrid might be 2 down but it isn’t going to impact their chances of going to the knockout rounds. It’s also harder to follow in terms of which games each team have got to play and where they could potentially place.

Horrible feeling Villa are going to win the champions league

Do you seriously think in two legs they can beat the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern etc… I doubt it, had a good result against Munich earlier sure but a long long way to go yet.

This is Emery though, his European record is crazy. He knows what it takes over two legs and you’ve got players like McGinn and Duran that can score from nowhere

Don’t get me wrong upsets happen and they are capable of pulling it off, but realistically getting to the Quarter final would be a great achievement

They play Club Brugge, Juventus, and Leipzig I would expect them to at least get 5 points from that.

Get points out Brugge and Celtic. Leipzig will beat them. Juve be a bore 0-0.

Villa already using it to rotate their squad

Uefa maybe getting worried with this new format when looking at the top 8 at present. Only arsenal and dortmund of like main elite in their. Dont think they'd imagine villa and monaco leading the way after three games. Theyll be hoping for better results tomorrow night.
