He isn’t. He’s too weak and ducks out of tackles.

Ducking out of a tackle - which he could’ve been arguably accused of on Saturday, is nothing to do with ability. He’s more than able at Championship level. His abilities are stand out in midfield at this level. You could argue his mentality at the moment isn’t in a great place but tbh, he had some excellent moments on Saturday. The hate clouds his performance for many as it does when Faes plays. He does a lot of things very well. He is outstanding on the half turn and plays incisive forward passes with regularity. Fact remains he has excellent ability at this level and he is our best midfielder albeit out of a very very limited pool of midfield options.

You can have other qualities and his vision, passing range, use of the ball is high quality - and as this is in the Skipp topic he has qualities which I am yet to work for Ollie what his are !

I don’t agree. His passing ability and movement on the half turn is good yes, but even in the Enzo season, he looked weak too often and was easily brushed off the ball. This was even worse in the Prem as it’s an even more physical league. He ducked out of 3 challenges at Charlton- watch the second half back and you’ll spot every one of them. That isn’t a quality midfielder.

Fans accepting the likes of Winks, Thomas, Okoli etc and saying they are decent at this level have short memories. We’ve had so many better players than these in the past, at the same level. We’ve stooped so low that we as a fan base are accepting mediocre players far too easily.

And I don’t hate him. Far too apathetic at the club currently to ‘hate’ any of them.

Soumare is certainly one I probably dislike the most because as well as being utterly doggo, he just doesn’t care.

I agree. Every game I’ve seen Skipp have bar Palace away last season, he’s been pretty much invisible.

Comparing the likes of Skipp with the effort put in by players like Muzzy or even Savage is like comparing chalk and cheese. This is why lots of fans are not impressed with Skipp's efforts, which we will need to get out of this league.

This isn't fair, he is not putting in 100% at the moment but it doesn't mean he's not talented, he has England caps FFS. He has strengths and weaknesses as do most players.

Do we think there is a Skipp redemption arc?

As far as I can tell, he's rubbish.

He must have been a good player a few years back, voted one of the best players in the championship and playing in the CL. But just like JJ looked a top player before his injuries, maybe so did Skipp. Now he looks a L1 player if that.

Thought he has a great game tonight.

Work off the ball was so good.

Interested to see how much groud he covered.

Him and Soumare best game together so far.

Agreed. I think against better teams he will prove to be more useful. It’s games  we will dominate that he’s going to struggle in.

Better awareness and work rate tonight.

Still a long way to go being more confident on the ball. Easily hes best performance for us since signing, but its a low bar.

He and Soumare seemed to work so much harder tonight.

They are limited players, but if they work their socks off, then at least that benefits the team.

Still prefer to see Winks though.
