He’s not terrible, don’t be silly. I , like many others, were pleased when he started to show improved form, but no one said  he was brilliant or our saviour. He tries his best, unlike most of our squad. 
Perhaps some on here are right in that he doesn’t play well with Winks? 
Yes, we did overpay and overall he has been disappointing for the fee and his wages. 
Did you post on here he was a bad signing at the time we signed him, as you expected?

Yes I criticised the signing at the time, and some people argued with me "give him a chance" etc but he's a nothing player. Runs around a lot but offers little. I still struggle to understand what his best position is supposed to be. £25m absolute joke, he was always going to be disappointing signing for that price and that was always my point. No other club would pay that fee for him.

Oh, I can’t see the point in arguing about him being “terrible “ or not, as you’re not going to modify your view. I’ll just leave it that he’s managed to fool many people in the pro game if you’re right.

Credit to you for calling out his signing at the time. I hadn’t heard of him tbh.

What does Skipp offer exactly? 42 games in, and I'm still wondering.

 

He doesn't contribute going forward, he shies away from tackles. He doesn't lead.

 

He runs around a lot.

Since Winksy has come back into the side, Skippy’s performances have gone down hill. He plays a lot better when he’s with Jamesy.

He breaks down the oppositions play by intercepting passes or getting in the faces of players. 

 

This sometimes drags him out of position which is why he needs a midfield partner who can also run. 

 

Winks takes up the space but doesn't cover ground well. James does the things Skipp doesn't do and runs hence why they are the best pair. 

 

Therefore you either play Winks in a 3 with two 8s like in the Maresca season or you play James and Skipp in a two.

Wouldn't that also mean that Skipp would have to adapt his style of play when paired with Winks?

 

I don't rate Winks much, but it always takes two to tango.
