35 is 30m gbp so not a lot more than an olly skipp lol.  Man city tend to get decent deals done in terms of transfer cost. It’s their wages and agent fees that tend to be insane. But then again so are ours

but for whatever reason, club to club they are pretty good aside from the occasional panic push

Sadly, we're not a big name draw, even when we were champions, so we have to generally pay over the odds, even for average players.

Curious why a club would care about that though? I don’t disagree with wages but why would spurs cut a better deal for man city than us for example?

I think clubs just know how to deal with Rudkin and also play him at his own game, we aren’t reasonable to deal with either. Rudkin over paid but he rarely sold cheap. This summer was the first time we’ve really had to make big concessions (Hermansen and bilal) and that’s because we couldn’t afford to hold out without screwing ourselves further

im adamant, a half competent dof, a quarter competent… could have got ayew for 2 m and skipp for 10. Both clubs just wanted them gone

It helps your argument when you crop out the players that are €50m+...

  • 10 players €50m+ each over the last 5 seasons
  • Vs 16 players over the same period that were less than €50m each (and 7 of those cost more than Skipp anyhow)

I mean for attracting a player. Go to Leicester for £50m or Man City for £40. Guess which one the players going to. Players aren't cattle.

My argument wasn’t that they dont spend large amounts of money… it was “Man city manage to sign the worlds best talent for not a lot more than we paid for skipp (22m total I believe).”

which is true. They get top players for those sums. Obviously they do splash the cash as well.

They've managed to do that when the players contract is about to expire and in the case of Guehi and others given them about 300k a week because of that.

Like others have said, they aren't some masterminds in the market. They got in there with ridiculous spending before PSR and now they're one of the most reputable clubs in the world so have first pick.

I don’t dispute that. I think I’ve made my point poorly. I’m not expecting us to be getting players ahead of them, just pointing out how outrageous it is to pay that sort of money for someone with skipps profile

I’m not accepting that 22m is the going rate for him no matter how it’s spun

Didn't Man City spend 105M on Grealish

Should have buried that chance when one on one with the keeper. Don't they teach this at the finishing school of Seagrave?

Missed a sitter but deep down we all knew it was going to happen eh? I thought he was anonymous again today and we were much improved when Bobby Reid took his place. I just don’t get it with Skipp (like i just don’t get it with Mainoo and England tbf.) Doesn’t do enough in defence, doesn’t show for the ball enough when we are in possession. For their first goal he made no effort to show for our throw in - instead Fatawu  further away from the throw and in a more pressured position took responsibility to move into space and encourage the throw to go to him and it backfired, he lost the ball and they scored. He’ll rightly get the blame but watch Skipp and he has no interest in even providing a dummy run never mind demand the ball.

If James is fit I’d play him alongside Winks and leave the excellent Mukasa in the 10 role. James is an intelligent enough footballer to be able to play a more disciplined defensive role during a match if required

If anybody needs help understanding the phrase; whether you think you can or can’t, you’re probably right, watch Skipp through on goal today.

Runs around chasing shadows most the time, offers nothing.. imagine we won the Prem with a midfield 2.

Yeah but one of the two was Kante. We played Drinkwater down the middle and Kante either side.

Most of the Premier League outside of the top 6 manage to not overpay and are not ‘big’ clubs either.

We choose to overpay or simply don’t buy quality.

The non attempt to block the first goal is awful

This guy seems to have 0(Zero) skills in the attacking area. That's 2 shots in 2 games that could have been winning goals for us. Man's an atrocious attacker

Really crap today, the second goal in particular, has a look at the several free men and just decides to make zero effort to put any of them off

He’s often involved in us conceding from corners, carrying that same bewildered look on his face, still looking for his man and the ball after a goal.
