Surely a good midfielder can operate in a 3 or a 2 though? A midfielder who can only play in a 3 would suggest he has deficiencies that are exposed when he’s not got that extra support. That describes Skipp for me. He’s not quick, he’s not physical, he’s not got a great 1st touch, he isn’t renowned for ranged passing, he doesn’t score many goals and he can’t play on the half turn. I’d say £5m is too expensive for such a flawed player, never mind the fact Skipp actually cost us £25m. Bad transfer value for a bad player in my opinion. I’d rather sign a midfielder that is good enough to play in a 2 and play him in a 3 if the formation requires it.

Yep, makes sense and valid points.

I'd counter.it with a 25m player should be able to cope in a two too. But he isn't at that 25m level.

He's a 5m player being asked to play against superior players. Which the manager must decide; do I play regardless and hang a player out to dry? Or do I cover the shortcomings?

Soumare and Winks also can't cope playing against superior movement,.speed of thought and strength.

The logical answer - for all three - is to compensate.

This clown in charge will/can't do that

He's been compared to Andy King in terms of his playstyle and limited but battling skillset. What an insult to one of our all-time greats. King did 100x as much in the top flight.

Nah. You pay 20m for post title Andy King and stick him into this sad excuse for a side he'd be getting dogs abuse.

He'd still done more in two seasons before then in the top flight than Skipp ever has to warrant the obscene price tag. Had the gonads to help drag us through the Great Escape for starters, something I can't see Mr. Skipp ever doing.

Seriously? What has this man ever done to warrant £20 Million +, besides happening to be part of a Greedy Six squad?

Again, should clarify it's not Skipp's fault - it's the combined fault of Cooper, his scouting team, and most of all Rudkin for spaffing money we're in very short supply of on someone who I'd struggle to even call average.

20 million lol

****ing hell. Be disappointed if he came on a free.

Not seen a display as bad as his today since the glory days of Junior Lewis.

Why play Skipp in a 3 though having all of us seen his lack of ability at this level? Particularly as this will necessitate the loss of the number 10 role and as a result Bilal’s position in the first 11. It would make much more sense just to play Bilal deeper and leave Skipp on the bench. Bilal can press, he can tackle, he can take the ball on the half turn, he can pass progressively and played deeper at times in Belgium.

Drop Vardy. Simple as. And then play either Daka or Stephy up top

Oh Skipps not even close to 20m and he's getting worse with every appearance. However in last years decent spurs side I doubt he was anywhere near as bad. That's where the Andy King comparison comes in. You stick him into the title side or the resurgent great escape side and he looks like a competent pl player. Stick him into the the post title hangover side he becomes a nothing player who eventually looks inferior to amartey.

Drop our best striker? Seems a lot of mucking around to fit in a player who isn’t good enough in Skipp just to have an extra body in deeper midfield when Bilal can do that job?

Other than Danny Ward, has any other player dropped a 0/10 before in recent years? It genuinely was a 0/10. I felt sorry for him. He did nothing right at all. Looks like someone from the stands joined in

Whoever sanctioned Skipps signing from a Football perspective should be sacked immediately.

I’m sure it was reported Cooper did?

Then he deserved to go.  Surely Glover didn't have anything to do with his selection. If he had I'm even more worried for the future.

Why are people discussing about him playing in a 2 or a 3?

He literally couldnt play a 2 yard pass with any accuracy today.

Yet another reason why this board and ownership has come to the end.  They need protecting from themselves at the minute.  Any good decisions they’ve made in the last 3 years have purely been an accident.

He was english with near on 100 premier league apps, he made the championship team of the season, he's not that bad of a player. Like everyone his confidence is probably gone, it seems like it was probably low anyway, with people always making fun of him. He's also playing in a bad team.

Obviously it’s not his fault we paid £20m+ for him but he’s done nothing to justify that price tag. He doesn’t seem to have any obvious strength in his play

There is a decent PL player there, we just haven’t seen it. But the main issue is that we didn’t need a player in that position. I can’t believe we didn’t spent that money on a striker instead - and just shows everything that is wrong with the club to be honest.
