Leicesterpool Posted 21 August 2024 Posted 21 August 2024 I do fear if we concede too early we could face a hammering here. If we can start the way we played against Spuds in the second half it could be interesting game.

Even then it was only a 15/20 period in the second half until the injury stoppage and subs killed the momentum. Energy levels need to raise but confidence must be much higher now. Worryingly, Coopers away record is appalling.
trooky Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 Doesn't look like we'll get a new striker before the Friday lunch deadline, did Vardy worsen his injury playing on Monday?

Skipp in for Ndidi perhaps. With a points deduction looming we need to target teams like Fulham for wins and not be too shy from the start, we have the attacking front 3 to threaten. Starting too defensively can be counterproductive. 5

whoareyaaa Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 Think our defence is actually pretty good incl the keeper if we can keep them all playing together they should get better as well, Skipp will add more to that as well, probably see a lot of tight games and we will be looking to shit house most away games 3

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 Amazing how many people’s suggested teams completely ignores the readily available and inevitable “player scores against former side” factor.

He said the injury was an impact injury, bone on bone and those don’t worsen after a bit of recovery when you play on them unless you take a wack on it again

Same Fulham who battered us 5-3 we were in the PL in 22/23, we had a front 3 of Vardy, Barnes and Maddison that day, do you think the current front 3 are better? In 22/23 we won more games then Forest, and the same as Everton, we went down because we were a soft touch and lost to many games. The other stayed up on the back of picking up draws. Being tough to beat isn't a bad thing. Edited 22 August 2024 by coolhandfox

That said I find Palace's activity weird, everyone was tipping them for a big season, but now they are losing quite a few players and already lost their first game. Looks like more mid-table mediocrity for them. There's no doubt that we have been left behind in the Premier League for quite some time, but all teams are throwing crazy amounts of money around. There used to be the top 6 and then maybe 2-3 ambitious teams that spent a bit on occasion. Now you have 40M for Rutter, Brentford spent 37M on Igor Thiago, Bournemouth 40M on Evanilson, Fulham this window spending 30M on Smith-Rowe and then the the two picked up this week, etc. The division has become brutal. Chairman is definitely cashing in on assets after a successful season. Feel for Glasner as he's the one getting screwed over. 2

Licence to do what? If you mean for Ndidi to be able to surge forward in a more attacking way we saw that he was adequate or mediocre at it in the Championship. He hasn't got the close skills required in the Premiership, in fact I would go as far to say he'd be an absolute liability in constantly giving the ball away. Yet, in just one game we saw that a young kid from Brighton has more of the skills required in abundance. There has to be more to our game than sheer containment. Starting every game ultra defensive in the Premiership will be easily worked out by opposition managers, even quicker than Enzo's repeat tactics were worked out by even lower team managers last year. If we're going to go down, let's at least do so with the fight and determination of our Spurs second half performance and just a whimper which also leads to unrest.
