I wouldn't blame the recruitment team, BDR and Ayew are both Cooper signings, supposedly our team needed more PL experience. Edouard is a desperation signing, because nobody else wanted to come here. On paper it didn't look too bad, but so far he's been a disaster. We can only hope he gets better.

Just wondering why we have a recruitment team and director of football if it can be completely bypassed by the manager?

Should have just used Cannon

Edouard is more proven at this level but watching Cannons 4 goals recently his movement was fantastic. I’d love to have seen Cannon, Edouard and Vardy in rotation

13 goals in 46 Championship games last season.

1 in 9 so far this season.

He is tripe.

Why oh why oh why do people not understand that history prior to joining the club doesn't count and everyone gets a clean slate just like after a summer holiday.

Give him more time for flip sake.

I think people are getting a bit carried away with Cannon hitting 4 goals.  That's certainly a positive, but Stoke fans were slamming him before that game, his movement being one major criticism and he's just gone another game without a goal. So while on the face of things having a record of 4 goals in 5 games is great, when you say he hasn't scored in 4 of the 5 matches in which he's played, it brings a different perspective.

Rather Daka than either of these 2.

Oh of course, I wouldn't want him starting, and I can't pretend to know what he's been like for anything other than that game as it's the only one I've seen, but his movement in that game was fantastic and he was playing largely on the shoulder of the defenders. I'd just rather have him here so we have options. I'd like to see us go to 2 strikers when chasing games and right now we don't have that option unless we bring a winger on upfront since Vardy can't last the 90 and we have been typically chasing the game around the time he's spent.

Proven he’s crap.  Cannon needs a chance to prove he’s not as crap.

57 goals in 94 games for Celtic, 18 goals in 95 games for Palace. At club career Cannon has 14 goals in 41 appearances. Edouard 75 goals in 189 games. A goal every 2.5 games, Cannon a goal every 3 games. Edouards record is better but that ratio will only go down further, while Cannon could be around 30 goals 75 appearances by the end of season. Neither will likely get u goals this season in the premiership tho.

I do think that any Edouard stats are skewed by his Celtic time though. Irrespective of any debates about the quality of the SPL it’s irrefutable that Celtic were in an incredibly dominant position when he played there

IIRC we were considered strong candidates to sign him from Celtic (with BR ‘s connection there proving an obstacle ) when he was getting ready to leave . Joining Palace was a bit of a surprise at the time , good bullet  to dodge and now he’s back

I think we were pretty close to getting him before we threw our lot in on Patson Daka. It’s debatable who got the best end of that deal but, right now, I’d sooner have Daka

I'm not sure anybody is bypassed. Cooper spoke openly about wanting experienced PL players, so it makes sense Ayew and Bobby are more influenced by him. On the other hand Bilal & Soule are probably more analyst and scout influenced. Obviously Soule we couldn't get over the line.

We only get the Rodgers connection from the media. Celtic selling would use any connection to bump up his price. And sell to whoever if the price was right. Was we really in for him or just used. Did Rodgers say he's not good enough for the EPL.  I'm no Rodgers fan and never was. But maybe the bullet dodged at the time was down to Rodgers.

If the club celtic had that big a problem with Rodgers why would they take him back. After all he shite on them once.

Seriously, what do people expect given he is sitting on his arse for most of the time and getting chucked in for a few minutes here and there?

Passion, determination, drive, work ethic, touch, skill, ability, focus, fitness, good communication, energy, vision,…

Just a single shred of evidence that he is indeed a professional footballer.

That would be a start.

Vardy not travelling but this lad still being benched behind Ayew for the centre forward role (when it’s pretty clear Ayew is not really any kind of goal threat in that role) should tell Edouard about where he stands in the pecking order. As soon as 50p boots Patson is back, the lad won’t even make the bench. What a signing - being behind Daka and Ayew in a selection order and 4th choice overall in a position that only uses 1 player at a time. Another stunning signing under the Rudkin(out) administration.
