Yes. Either it is there for everyone or not at all.

In any case, VAR for offsides were introduced to decipher attackers being ahead of defenders in open play, often at pace, with the linesman genuinely unable to make the call. This was at least a yard offside from a dead ball situation. It is terrible officiating.

Couldn't agree more.

I fear VAR has inadvertently given "assistant referees" – as they love to be called – a licence to be awful at their jobs.

Feels like it’s always us.

Honestly I think they’ve accidentally done us a favour. It’s good that we’re out the cup and not having to play an extra 30.

But my days the officiating in this country is woeful.

They would have beaten us in extra time.

A written apology from whoever coming though, that’ll help us no doubt.

Still remember that Villa semi final where the guy had his hands above his head and it wasn't given handball with VAR. Pretty sure they tried to justify it in the end

What's the point in no VAR until quarters anyway?

Either have it for all the comp or none of it at all.

So they can use it to **** over any of the non cartel who made it that far. Like Cov last year. Games a ****ing corrupt shitshow.

Semi automated offsides (like they had in the Euros) just seem to be the most logical solution to me. In every competition.

It’s just mind boggling why that wasn’t given. Big 6 bias? Pressure of Old Trafford? I don’t know. But we’d never get given a decision like that.

Just goes to show what a load of rat shit the officials are not only did they led that block head score when he was clearly offside but early on in the game when we where attacking there goal he was in his own 18 yard box with both his arms round a Leicester player preventing him from moving in any direction with the ref in clear sight, In any other part of the pitch that’s a free kick so when are these officials going to grow some balls and start giving penalties for such tactics. Everyone team dose it and the only way to cut it out of the game is to award a penalty and it would stop in a couple of weeks. The whole system including VAR is a fcuking disgrace .

But what if a stadium that doesn't have it gets through to the 5th round? It won't make a difference :dunno:

Think you have answered the question there. It ‘will’ come into place for the 5th round but can’t be used in lower league ground.

I.e this round without it will be a coordinated effort to remove said lower league sides from the competition.

I still firmly believe the game is a better spectacle without VAR, it just needs competent people officiating it.
That linesman was in the perfect position and bottled it, last minute winner and at least 3 players in an offside position in the last minute at Old Trafford and he’s shat his pants.

They looked at the wrong incident is my remembrance.

With last night as well if it happened to a top 6 club it'd be reported as a scandal

The level of officiating is a disgrace and ruining the game

Blatant corruption

Absolutely and the big clubs are home know it is well.

I remember Mane' cheating with a dive in the 94th minute at Anfield a view years ago - He went down in about 3 stages eyed up the ref and he gave it - It wasn't a con it was a blatant cheat - I'd have sent the cxxx off for it

I’m not if it is or not, but Roy Keane even hinted at something like that on the TV to be fair.

This is why VAR is a good thing even if it is currently ran badly, should not be down to human(if you can call them human) error

This decision is all down to VAR. I’m not sticking up for the Lino because it’s the most shocking decision you’ll see all season, but they’re so used to not flagging/VAR bailing them out they barely have to make a decision anymore.

The current offside rules are incapable of being handled by incompetent/amateur officials who are up against Grade A professional cheats who are pushing the boundaries of what is active and inactive in terms of offside! I much preferred the back line being able to push up and catch everyone offside, even the half asleep winger!

if he doesn’t flag that last night then he needs sacking from officiating again until they attend a

refresher course!

Of course INEOS, Brailsford and Ratcliffe aren’t know for cheating or pulling a fast one with the public are they?

F VAR.

THis is the perfect example where people try and go "gotcha"

I'd happily have last night's decision multiple times a season, the net "value" of VAR is a huuuuuge negative on the game. Correcting the odd blatent mistake doesn't make up for how much life and enjoyment it sucks out of the game.
