I saw in the news this week that you can now only buy one model of car with a CD player in it and an article I'd read inferred that the CD was now officially dead and also they were therefore saying, so is the album.

So what do you mostly use to listen to music on? For me I'm still in love with the CD, still buy new and used CDs. I have a few hundred. In the early 2000s I was an early adopter of subscription services that allowed you to download a certain amount of music per month - I have over 10,000 tracks on various usb sticks and hard-drives.

That was nowhere near as satisfying as owning the actual media though, so I started buying CDs again and I think it's why I've never gotten into streaming. There's something about the whole concept of an album, be it vinyl, tape or CD, with the addition of the art work, the sleeve notes, etc, that makes it so much more complete, especially when an album is well crafted in it's flow.

I still have quite a bit of vinyl and I do have a very old NAD turntable and amp, but I rarely play them because the turntable needs I good service I think. I occasionally toy with buying something like a Rega Planar, but as I already have two music systems (both built around Marantz CD players), where to put a third, in a very average sized ex-council house is a bit of a conundrum, especially as (as some of you might remember, my wife is profoundly deaf (though this means get to listen to what I want constantly)) my wife would definitely not appreciate it.

Think I've said enough. Fire Away!

Primarily Youtube but also gotten into vinyl in the last few years, nice to pop something on when cooking in the kitchen etc. Occasionally still play a CD when in the front room working - probably got a few hundred but don't often buy them these days.

I used to work in the music industry, but left just as streaming was starting to become more accepted as the subscription model we have today rather than the old 79p buy-to-keep as it was.

I've got shit loads of CDs as a result, and every single one is in storage. I just don't have space for them.

The single is probably more popular than ever due to the playlists, but I totally disagree with the notion of the album being dead.

I'm a bit of an audiophile, but convenience trumps it (besides there's loads of lossless streaming nowadays) and I almost exclusively stream music now. It's so much easier to just whack it on via bluetooth to devices around the house.

Spotify, but I have CDs in my car because I have an old car and haven't bothered to put a new radio in.

I would also diagree that the album is dead - I find it much harder to get into a band who only have singles and there is still nothing better than finding a new album full of bangers.

I have Spotify but try to buy any album I listen to more than five or so times on vinyl to give something meaningful back to the artist. Due to finances probably don’t buy as many as I should though. Still have CDs which I barely play, much to the annoyance of the wife.

I do play digitally when I'm not near my record player, but I play vinyl the most and that is what I have a big collection of.

I have a few CD's I still play, but got rid of 90% of my CD's a few years back.

I bought the new Coldplay cd to get a pre sale code the other day and realised i had nothing to play it on.

Probably wouldn't admit to this kind of thing on the internet, mate.

Went from loving my record collection to loving the fact you could download music, back to loving cd's and vinyl, but now iI have a player that can play lossless format transfered from my collection and can hold well over a 1000 albums, no moving parts so dead silent (I became annoyed with any sound other than the record).  Never really liked streaming services....although have an amazon echo downstairs.

So recently i made a list of my record collection (just in case) and now I'm in the process of selling it.
