I wonder if Ruud might try and go for Noa Lang at LW Renato Viega! I’m adamant he was on enzo’s shopping list for us until he departed for Chelsea. Loan with obligation to buy if we stay up that’s if we can shift odsonne off that is.
Muzzy_no7 Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Villa need to sell still so may be tempted to offload Louie Barry?
kingfox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January The big decision to make regarding a new CB is who needs replacing the most, Kristiansen in that LB/LCB spot or Conor Coady. If it is to be Kristiansen, there’s a few potential options that are out of contract at the end of the season who can play that role. Reinildo(Atletico Madrid) and Matheus Reis(Sporting Lisbon) - For where we are though, they are probably unrealistic. Mauro Junior(PSV) - Ruud had him while he was there, could potentially play as an inverted central midfielder too. Kevin Diks(Copenhagen) - Been one of their most consistent performers in recent seasons, can play anywhere across the defence. 1

Last thing you need. Whilst I think we've signed some exceptional footballers and obviously made some good deals for the club post-Pearson, one thing I absolutely do miss from his tenure is how much he and Walsh seemed to prioritise personality when making a signing. I know we made significant profit out of the likes of Wes Fofana but I can't see Pearson touching him with a bargepole and I think there's value in that, quite frankly, if you're trying to build a squad of players that are actually going to go out and fight shoulder to shoulder in the trenches to keep you in the league. Lang is one of football's most notorious dickheads. And not in a fun, Vardy-esque way. He's the Dutch Ravel Morrison. 4

moore_94 Posted 13 January Posted 13 January (edited) Want a right-back? “We haven’t been opening up on positions we’re looking at. It’s not the best thing to do. We’ll keep that on the inside, and what is possible. It’s better to keep it indoors.” Confident of deals? “The most important thing was that from the conversations we had before I signed, we’re aligned with that, and we know what is possible and what isn’t. It has to be the right one. We have a responsibility to get the right players in.” New player in before Saturday? “It could happen but we have to wait and see how things are happening. It’s why the focus is on performing and winning. After that, it’s about signing players.” Edited 13 January by moore_94
Ric Flair Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Just tell us what positions we are focusing on Ruud it's hardly that deep. Does he really think a clubs going to stick another £1m on because we say we want a right back vs not telling the world we want a right back but still bidding on a right back? 1

No but if he says, ‘we want a right back’ and we dont get one, its not exactly the best boost for whoever currently has the gig. 2

Players know they face competition, the fact is there isn't ANY competition for places at right back currently. I really don't see the harm in telling us, we're moving in to the territory of Ruud's responses being very vague and it's a shame as he's very personable and articulate when he wants to be.

JimJams Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Whilst I think we'd do very well to get £15mill for him, I also think that a club like Newcastle who were previously linked, might not baulk too much at that kind of fee even if he wasn't a starter for them. I'd still be amazed.
North Leeds Fox Posted 14 January Posted 14 January (edited) Pavlovic from Milan on loan. No nonsense defender and looked great at the start of the season. Edited 14 January by North Leeds Fox 1
The boy Linacre Posted 14 January Posted 14 January PSR's off the agenda now Lets crack on now. sadly the fact the reinforcements aren't in for Palace & Fulham, that MAY be a disastrous mistake. We need at least 4, we have 1 incoming. Gamble.....if we don't we won't stay up, that group of players isn't good enough, we particularly need to stop the ball going in our net

AKCJ Posted 14 January Posted 14 January Cheap left sided centre half could be Lloyd Kelly? Former Bournemouth captain. Apparently Fenerbache are interested in him. Hasn't been at Newcastle long but I'd imagine they'd take a few million. Would be pure profit for them because he signed for free. 6"3, can play left back or centre half and is only 26.
