Managers with half a brain would.

Well considering 3 of our last 5 managers have won something with us that wasn't always a shoe in at other clubs and got a massive pay off or a huge pay rise elsewhere, I think they'd be comfortable taking it over most of the other muck around us.

Early days but I would add the Aberdeen manager to the list, whilst it’s a weak league he has done an unbelievable job so far.

Yes. We should also check the local manager of Anchorage United in Alaska and I've also seen a guy doing well in Mongolia with some primitive tactics.

Enzo said in a recent interview he phoned Ranieri about taking the job and Ranieri said he was sacked after winning the league..

If only we'd shown the same alacrity in sacking Rodgers...

If we have to go with PL experience and currently out of a job, the options look to be:

Graham Potter

David Moyes

Frank Lampard

Maurizio Sarri

Rafael Benítez

Patrick Vieira

Roberto Mancini

Where's the vomit emoji?

Whatever gives our fans the idea that Rudkin would even appoint decent successor?

Will Stills Lens just lost their first league game of the season to a 98 and 101st minute goal.

That's the kind of disappointment everyone needs in their lives.  Bring him on!

There are rumours he was very positive about the job but nobody from our board contacted him. He's not going to leave Lens now.

Seeing as the decision makers are clearly just trolling us these days I expect it will be Holloway or Taylor.

Only way the useless ***** could make it any clearer really

Of that lot Sarri is by far the most exciting option.

Unfortunately we were too slow off the mark for Holloway as he's just gone Swindon.

Gutted.

Many fans want a new manager. It would be interesting for a poll to be set up with possible candidates - but to include Cooper remaining. Moyes, Potter have already been mentioned. Not sure who else may be a realistic option in English or Scottish football, except for Chris Davies, (Birmingham) who is doing a pretty decent job (an assistant with BR., so links to the club).  Others with a better knowledge of European managers could suggest some names other than those mentioned.

However, although I am one who would like to see Cooper replaced, I can't see it happening with current leadership at the club

Chris Davies has been doing really well at the blues, but they’ve been really ambitious with their recruitment. Apparently FFP doesn’t apply in L1 so they’re spending new owners money now so they aren’t restricted

Didn't Jose say midweek he wants a club low in the league who have zero chance of any future UEFA football because he never wants to play up there again?

Gotta have us in the front of his mind surely?

Nah, that's plainly a pitch to get back to United.. 😐

I know this thread is a make believe thing like "what would you do if you won the lottery" that kids play, but you Cooperouts do realise that you are a tiny, tiny minority of the fanbase and that there is zero chance of Cooper being sacked and slightly less of him leaving... Sorry to puncture the fantasy 'n all that..

Rafa Marquez. Currently the assistant coach for the Mexico national team.

He managed Barcelona’s youth team and helped develop their current crop of young talent (Lamine Yamal, Cubarsi, Casado, etc).

He’d be very similar to Enzo. A serial winner as a player, but still unproven in management. Sticks to one style of play (4-3-3) and will play the Barcelona esque possession/tiki taka style that the owners like.

The fact they've appointed Cooper makes me think this is just a bit of a myth in truth.

I think if they hadn't sacked him if the score stayed at 2-0 against Southampton, then he'd certainly be gone now if he'd followed it up with defeat to Forest.

So he's certainly not far from the sack. A loss to Ipswich will give him a mountain to climb. If he doesn't have one already.

The last manager who won something with us was maresca, who I'm pretty sure a good number of posters were 'thanks for everything, but I'm not sure your tactics or stubbornness would cut it in the Premier league'

Basically your point actually helps explain as to why we have some fans with seriously unrealistic expectations.

Err.. Villa are a much bigger team than us, with a much bigger fan base, much bigger honours board and much greater ambition.. It's frankly delusional to think we could or would attract someone with the pedigree of Emery atm..

We could have been top 4 at the time and he'd still have gone with Villa.

Sleeping giant.

Agree with that now but we were ahead of them and we've definitely been a more attractive proposition for quite a few years in recent memory. Like you say not now. They've caught up and then some. But when we'd won the FA Cup and Premier League and had the squad we had, I'd say we put ourselves firmly as one of the most appealing jobs in England and even Europe.

I don't like talking about it because it's a hard pill to swallow how far we have fallen. But Villa weren't more attractive just because they played at Villa Park and won something 40 years ago.
