I listen to a lot of podcasts at work as we're allowed headphones in but I find myself running of podcasts to listen to so I end up sticking any old music on and letting it shuffle. I'd quite like to broaden my horizons and not listen to the same old stuff.

Could my fellow FTers give me some album suggestions to experience. I'll listen to absolutely any genre so all suggestions welcome. Maybe some classics. Thanks

Obviously I'm recommending a Beatles one. Hard to pick as I think Revolver is them at their most creative, but I would recommend Abbey Road or Rubber Soul to someone who wants to listen to a one off album.

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here

The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding

Primal Scream - Screamadelica

Literally picked two of the three I would have suggested!

The Velvet Underground & Nico

Responsible for so many bands styles and a huge influence

Their 3rd album too.

Narrowing down by albums which i love, are a bit more "avant-garde" but are also generally accepted critically as modern classics, i'd go with.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas

It depends what work you do, but I need to concentrate for long spells, so needs to be familiar stuff and not too heavy, so I tend to have a few albums I find it easier to work to...

The National - Trouble Will Find Me

Beatles - Love (a remix album from 2006)

James - Laid

Bluetones - Expecting to Fly

Edit - to add Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs, All is Dream & The Secret Migration

Other artists I tend to listen to but not necessarily individual albums are Yo La Tengo and another shout for Galaxie 500.
