Wouldn't wish that injury on your worst enemy let alone our most promising player. Only positive for him is he is young, as studies show over half don't return to the level of performance pre ACL injury and that gets progressively higher as you get older.

From personal experience the rehab is the most depressing period in the world, so hope the lad keeps that positive energy he plays with.

I actually think it means we would have an even bigger chance of keeping him if we went down

I can’t see someone wanting to pay £15m or so for him until they see what he is like after recovering

I’m not convinced you ever really recover from an injury like that.

Using the information in this article we may get up to 7.5 million Euros in compensation if he's out for 12 months. Hopefully that gives us room in January to do something in the transfer market.

He’s not going to be out for 12 months though. He won’t be fully fit but they won’t be paying if he’s technically available. Best case we will probably get about 5m euros which is just over 4m. Which isn’t really a great amount of money.

The difference at elite sport level is massive though. The fact he's already had it operated on and that's his starting fitness/muscle levels will be very high, massively reduces the potential long term impact. That and he'll get daily care and monitoring means he'll be in a great place.

Like you, my rehab was grim; 18 months and it took probably less than 60 seconds in my first match back to do it again. Can never play football or any contact sport again, and can't really run either. But that's partly because I had a particularly bad ACL injury but also because I wasn't given the care or attention Abdul will get. I'm sure he'll be ok.

‘kin ‘ell…. That’s totally rubbish…. Gutted for the kid…. He’ll be hurting literally and figuratively….

You just don’t replace that kind of talent

Just horrible news. Hasn't lit up the PL but is finding his feet and is often out only bright spark going forwards. I fear for us unless we spend big in January.

I know all ACL is a serious injury, but can it be ranked.

looking at the photos he posted, especially the one where he’s sat down, it didn’t look too bad. Abdul was the one shining light of this miserable season. I hope he comes back stronger

International breaks, what a load of shit.

What an absolute sad, utter waste, in a squad that is limited in quality.  A threat much of the time, carries goals & a great approach and mentality and smile on his face.

Hope he plays for us again in the Premier League.

Feel really empty on this one, and Cooper "I don't want any negativity and there won't be from me".

YES but the negativity for the fanbase, is we are all confident he won't have a clue how to at least replace him without a Jan purchase.

Coz Mcateer & BDRD just aren't Premier League class AND he hasn't given Alves enough game time that he can now risk him (muppet).

Bilal, Stephy and striker as front 3 AND/OR give Alves the minutes as the sub/cover for the wings.

Club needs to launch a review of training practices since we moved to Seagrove. We used to have one of the best injury records in European football and now we keep getting this kind of injury.

Does anywhere mention how or where this happened?

Where being in a game, training etc

in a game. The concern is he came off at half time. So unless he happened to do it just before half time there is a possibility he has ran on it for a length of time which obviously makes it worse.
