multiple contracts need agreeing to by coaches, back room staff, agents, directors, and solicitiors. These things don't happen overnight. And yes, all it takes is one unreasonable demand to throw the whole thing up in the air.

Understand all of that

If the head coach is unable to take up the role because he can’t get a backroom staff member that he wants then that’s a concern.

if you were RVN then you’d have asked for some commitments to spending in jan and next summer (dependant on relegation). if the club are unable to deal with those concerns then that’s potentially an issue.

Does all tie in with a delay in annoucing. No way you want to add the noise of exec departures before the weekends game.

Start a fresh on Sunday, new manager, new exec structure, new coaching team.

One can hope...

Abit worrying, all this talk of him falling out with players at PSV and them going to the hierarchy to complain. Sounds like what our players would do.

Gonna be awkward when they bump into each other outside Top's office on a Monday morning after a loss.

This is a classic example of other teams saying teams like us should give lower league managers a chance while not wanting their own team to roll the dice on them

Yeah, surely clubs like Plymouth and Cov should be giving lower league managers a chance, instead of going for big names but awful managers, like Rooney and Lampard.

Good points, especially after what happened at PSV. If he was to walk out on us next summer like he did at PSV because he hasn't been given what he wanted, then it wouldn't look good for his reputation, so I'm sure he'll want concrete assurances that he'll be given what he needs to succeed here.

Surprised that we haven't had any PSV fans on here telling us that RvN will be a disaster. Or even telling us how great he's going to be. Nothing.

Seen a few on Twitter that weren’t keen. Sounds like it was a strange year for them.

In the absence of information, you are looking for things that aren't there. All the parties will decide the best time to formally announce, and this will likely include some level of content on socials and traditional media (Ruud is a high profile announcement). Multiple contracts do take time to sort out and sign - its just life, and its not unreasonable for this part to take a few days to get absolutely everything right. I've been through a few company acquisitions where you are desperate to announce, but you cant until everything minor detail is sorted, even though those details arent issues. I think its right Ruud isn't going to be taking the team on Saturday anyway so its best to let the assigned coaches get on with it whilst Ruud learns where his desk is, what laptop he will be getting and where the toasty maker is in the canteen.

You can't even back on the betfair exchange right now. Unless we formally here these is a problem i suggest you enjoy your Friday and don't worry about it.

Good post. It seems like another example of people lacking patience in the modern world of instant news or rumour and conjecture.

It's like we expect RVN to be standing there with his box of essentials while he waits for Cooper to clear his desk. Things don't work that quickly in the real world and slating the club for not getting it done quickly just shows a clear lack of understanding of how complex these deals are. Especially when there are multiple people involved such as his coaching staff.

Rooney could win a cup with those teams !!

How long did they last ? , I'm guessing they were all gone within 2 years.

Look it's a gamble, any idiot can see that, I hope he does well, but we have no idea what he's going to be like as a football manager and we're a Premierdship club !!

Who do you suggest otherwise then? Every manager is a gamble. Look at the gamble we took on Maresca and how that turned out?
