He was never going to be in the dugout for Brentford.

He will probably meet the players today, and do his PR stuff and it will be announced sometime between now and Sunday.

I was talking to a friend about this last night. Remember when Stowell, DoFkup and Beaglehole were set to manage the QPR game just after we announced Megson, and then on the day of the game Gary Megson decided he wanted to manage the team immediately so we got Gerry Taggart on the touchline in a full suit because he dressed for the executive boxes?

There’s two things here. 1. If we were proactive, could he not have been in place before Wednesday ? Giving him time that we hope to give him pre- West Ham (which is in the weekday and he has an equal amount of time to if he was hired and in place two days ago for Brentford ?) 2, people have mentioned the respect thing about talking to a manager while another is already in place - didn’t we do that with Brendan - everything agreed while Puel was still in play - so what had changed.

The point I was making is we haven’t been pro active this time as we were when Puel was sacked. We weren’t pro-active when Brendan was sacked and it cost us. We weren’t actually aware or prepared when Enzo left - though, that one was a bit more understandable. And that has put us at a disadvantage for one PL game - I don’t think you can spin it any other way. I don’t know Ben Dawson but he could possibly have a caretaker spin and get something who knows, I just think there is genuine flaws in the approach given all the noise of “concerns” not “knee jerk” etc.

I think it is easier to be proactive when you have an attractive proposal, we had a squad with loads of potential, who was already a top PL 10 side.

Do you think Smith and Cooper were the first choices, or do you think we actually spent time trying to convince someone decent to come?

I think on Smith we had no idea what to do. There is no excuse for that season. On Cooper, he was the safety net because Potter fell through.

On this occasion, the appeal to manage Leicester didn’t change from today to two weeks ago. The international break. The man we’ve apparently got is unemployed and as the press tells us, the club are adamant Top was now knee-jerk,

New levels will be reached if the club - for whatever reason - can’t get RVN over the line. The longer it rumbles on the more concerning it is…

It'll be fine man, he's gonna be announced at some point

Strange situation because if its all done you would expect RVN in the stands watching? So we going to see him without an announcement then announce it sunday? Seems backwards unless its not done or we tell him not to watch us🤣

It feels like the club want to do do a big reveal. RVN has a huge global reputation, we are probably being pretty coy, link it to the press so that everyone knows about it but the actual reveal being at a game… well that brings an audience and some huge positive PR… that video of him walking out would hit globally and this would be good for our brand.

Or am I giving us too much credit?

They want Potter both times and he probably messed them about, playing the in-out dance.

No, but the desire to take action can, maybe he was 50/50 to sack Cooper and Chelsea display push that 100%.

If we have Ruud confirmed by the weekend I don't think a week is that long.

He took training this morning

Didn't you say the same yesterday? Seems odd he would take training 2 days in a row and not be announced or be in the dugout for Brentford....

I imagine it gets announced on Sunday after the Brentford game to allow the club to concentrate on the game.

Then he'll take training on Monday and be in the dugout for the game on Tuesday.

It needs to be announced before the game.  Too much of a distraction.  Get it done, out the way, draw a line and begin a new chapter.

If the man can genuinely make that ghastly training wear look good, we're in for quite a season.

He'll never pull it off like Rudkin
