Don’t flame me.

But I can’t quite believe what is happening at Leicester City. You were no great shakes under Cooper, but outside of the LCFC fan community, I think it would be reasonable to say most neutral football supporters didn’t see this ending well from the start.

I appreciate that as a fan who watches every week, supporters have a unique perspective of what’s going wrong at their club, but from my perspective Cooper was pretty low down the list of issues. Again, I appreciate many fans who have to watch every week may have found the football turgid, but given Leicester’s squad and financial limitations, most neutrals thought he was doing okay.

It’s clear the owners picked the wrong man, and it’s clear you’re going down.

In my opinion, the sensible and pragmatic thing for Leicester to do is thoroughly consider a managerial shortlist in the coming weeks, forgoing reputations and “exciting” names, and seek to bring in a head coach/manager to rebuild the squad during the summer, ready for what will be a gruelling Championship campaign.

I have real concerns that due to the aforementioned existing financial issues, a summer root and branch rebuild will be next to impossible, so in my view you will need to hire an experienced, pragmatic manager with the ability to get the most out of limited players and drive their ambition to return to the Premier League.

RVN has to go ASAP, to give time for the stench to dissipate, I fear for you that the longer he stays, the more possible a double drop becomes.

Van Nistelrooy was somebody they wanted in the summer but never went and got him. I want those who had the say in this appointment (and practically everything over the last 5 years) nowhere near the club. They are proven failures. They have demonstrated their incompetence to a point nobody could possibly think otherwise.

This club is broken until this owner goes. If we go back up under this owner next season then English football is really, really broken. Because we are an absolute horrible shitshow.

Nah isn’t gonna be true the club have just released more of his post match quotes online and on social media.

If it was true these posts would’ve been stopped.

Rohl is not coming here, Southampton bound.

That should tell people everything about us.

Van Nistelrooy tried to resign but that cvnt of an owner stopped him - probably to protect his own ego. How did that one go for you?

I was at seagrave this morning for work (I don't work at the club) and saw ruud leaving quite early. Caught a glimpse of his face and exchanged a glance with the guy I was there to see and he pretty much confirmed he'd gone, and he'd know with his job without being too specific protect the guy

Come on now, did you?

I wouldn't feel comfortable saying what job the guy had as I can imagine it would be easy enough identify em but they'd definitely know if something was up. General vibe was awful though, you'd think someone had died

Still amazed he's not got an experienced coach on his staff. I don't know whether that's because he doesn't have anyone or we just won't pay them, either way it's a joke.

Put your big boy pants on Top admit you have got it horriblly wrong and Sack him and Murphy today because let’s face it there is no on field plan or pattern of play.  He did it with Cooper so do it again.
Get a manager in like Sean Dyche because let’s face it things may not be pretty but there would be fight and spirit until the end of the season. Get him in this week and whilst it may be Mission Impossible to save us it’s a better chance than with RVN. Even if we go down with Dyche in charge and we win and draw a few matches he will know who to cull in the summer and who to bring in! Who knows we may even score at home!

Because Dyche was such a roaring success at Everton. He’s awful, football is awful and Everton vastly improved since they finally got rid.

Its two separate decisions though; they could have replaced Cooper with an actual football manager, but they didn't.  The sacking of Cooper required the hiring of a new manager, but it did not have to be Ruud.

Yes, I wouldn't argue with that at all. From the players' perspective, though, that whole episode was about replacing someone they didn't like with someone that would be nice to them, play the way they wanted to play, tell them how wonderful they are and generally dodge taking them to task about how crap they are. The fact that he still doesn't acknowledge that our workrate/desire isn't up to scratch and continues to play some of the worst offenders is kind of confirmation of that to me.

But you're quite right, none of the above means it was the wrong decision to sack Cooper. It will seem like madness to the footballing community because of what we did thereafter, and you can understand why, but in isolation that aspect of the decision-making was understandable.

I'd only add the one asterisk to that, to point out that much of the necessity for Cooper's exit came from the hostility of fans, the rejection of his methods by players (which perhaps impacted on his final results) and before that, the way in which the running of the club had restricted the squad rebuild. I can't accept that these players' jurisdictions on who should or shouldn't be in charge are worth heeding, regardless of my view that - in spite of everything - Cooper still was never the right man for the task.

He was a success at Everton. He achieved exactly what he was brought in to achieve. He kept them in the league for two seasons running, and one of seasons they had 9 points deducted. They would have comfortably stayed up under him this season.

He'd taken them as far as he could and his football wasn't very inspiring but most Everton fans acknowledge that he did a decent job under difficult circumstances for the first year and a half at least, but it was right to move on.

I don't want him to be our manager, mainly because I'd like to see us promote some academy players and I'm not sure he would be as interested in that. However, I wouldn't be devastated if we appointed him. We would at least have a clear way of playing and we would have a team that applies itself under him. It's not much, but it's a start at least.

The club usually announces manager departures on social media, so they would have been told by now if RVN had gone this morning.
