I was willing to look past everything this season and still plan on going next season in the hope of improvement.

RVN is seriously making me question that decision though.

Despise the bloke.

What is can't reconcile with my brain is if the club can afford to sack him in this seasons accounts then why is he still here? If they can't afford to part ways then it is truly mind blowing how we've left ourselves in this position. I can't imagine the club still believe he's the right man to take us forward, surely not?

It makes me wonder if the compensation package is reduced if we're a Championship club but we're still technically a Premier League club until the shares have been exchanged with Leeds, Burnley or whomever wins the play-offs.

I don't think we would have to wait for that to happen if that was the case as Southampton were able to get rid of Juric with a clause as soon as relegation was confirmed

Depends on the wording of the contract and the clubs' differing PSR situations, perhaps? Not to mention pay. I shudder to think how much RVN is on.

Given how we've wangled our way through certain contractual rulings regarding our status in the EFL and premier league, we're probably just not taking any chances.

Possibly but I don't hold any hope with this lot

Our best hope is that we stick him on gardening leave, bring someone else in at the start of pre-season, and then sack Ruud once we hit 1st July and into the next PSR period

Going to end up wasting the summer and the first few months of the season if he stays because he will have us underperforming and get sacked anyway

I have seen absolutely nothing from him that makes me think he is suddenly going to start getting it right with his horrendous team selections and tactics

He hasn’t got and tactics or a style of play either! I think he will be gone after the season has finished mutual agreement but it would not surprise me in the slightest if he stayed 😂

I think we will appoint a new gaffer but not officially employ until 1st July. Ruud I think will be officially fired on the same day so it rolls in to next years figures. That's all I can thathom as to why we didn't pull the trigger weeks ago.

Make no mistake, they likely view this as not his fault at all and probably have a load of sympathy for him that this is the squad he’s got. I can see him staying 100%, we don’t have football people in that boardroom.

Clearly he isn’t though as Rudd manage to completely destroy his Martin crafted Saints side, if Martin comes in we are in big trouble. The mental thing is thinking this board can bring in a decent manager. For it to work the club needs a complete change of senior leadership and to define what it wants its identity to be. We’ve gone from Rodger’s to smith, to Enzo, to cooper to Rudd in 2 years, we’ve clearly got a poor culture amongst players, possibly other departments.

I am not saying don’t change the issue I have is this will be another scattergun approach of random from the board when actually building something might be the best way. Would I prefer a different manager yes but this club aren’t going to think outside the box on recruitment whilst Rudkin and top are here and none of their Primary options are any better than Rudd in my opinion

Completely destroy is a real stretch and il point out that this 'martin crafted' Southampton side as abysmal as they are had until this weekend out performed RVN for the past 4 months. The board can clearly bring in someone better as they have managed it every other time they've appointed a manager. Whoever we appoint next and no matter how good/bad they are absolutely no one will be thinking wed be better off if we kept RvN instead. RvN is generationally bad and needs to go every bit as much as Rudkin and Glover.

Seems a bit at odds though with him having had absolutely no steer from the club on what they are going to do, they're ignoring him.

Ignoring him or just don’t have a clue what to do?

I literally have a picture in my head of Ruud wondering around Seagrave armed with a PowerPoint presentation of how he wants to take the club forward, constantly shouting Top and Rudkin’s names whilst they hide behind various pillars and pot plants trying to avoid him.

Joking aside I think they are trying to force him to walk away, he wants out they want him gone but don’t want to pay out.

Why has this thread gone hot with people wetting the bed about RVN staying?

Has anything actually happened or been said?

Nothing, people just love to suffer.
