Cant see us getting anything out of this as there is no way the new manager will get this unit organised defensively in time.

A real shame that yesterday sucked a bit of the new manager enthusiasm despite him not being in charge.

I remember the shock Liverpool win when he played fantastic at centre half. He reads it well and would be a better bet than Faes.

I'd forgotten Hamza's performance in that match, an unexpectedly good performance from a weak team on paper which shows what can be done with reasonable organisation and when the team are up for it.  IfvI r.emember rightly, Rodgers praised Hamzacfor that performance and dropped him for the next game ^_^

Pretty much a need to win game but can't see it.

Until the defence is sorted out we're going to get very few points. It may be boring but we need to start defending properly before we try to play exciting expansive football which we probably aren't capable of in any case.

Somehow need to not be cut adrift come January when we will need at least 4 players if we are to have a chance of surviving.

I'm hoping for a system that provides us defensive cover, but also gets the best out of us offensively.

Giving the defense actually clearly laid out roles is probably needed.

Ruud does sometimes favour a full back that tucks in, similar to what Enzo did with Doyle. For me, Justin or VK can’t do that role so I can understand people suggesting Hamza. Means you can play VK or Justin on the left and it gives them a bit more freedom. Attacking with both full backs is leaving us far too exposed at the moment.

This team"s personnel and "quality" screams for a wide diamond. It seems only me and a couple of others here suggesting it which I find rather strange. Everyone else is posting variations of formations that have already failed.

No system with just Vardy upfront works, he needs direct support by either having Ayew with him or Daka and switching sides with Buonanotte behind. In defense we can switch to a low block with Ndidi as DMF. Winning balls while on it and we can take advantage of the speed of Mavididi and Buonanotte without committing more bodies forward.

JJ ( there’s no one else, Hamza=NO)

Vesty

Okoli (if fit, Coady if not)

VK

Skipp

Winks (if fit, Soumare if not)

Goodnight

El-Khannouss

Mavididi

Vardy

Faes has no place now. Awful defender.
LT is not an option IMO.

Hamza is not a PL player either.

Ndidi just doesn’t do his job anymore.

pretty much this, could argue daka as Vardy is about 40 and shoildnt play too many games this close with xmas congestion coming up. Also agree with giving  the young lad Goodnight a chance.

We are miles off it. Relegation nailed on. Been lucky with points we've got from games so far. Southampton, Ipswich are at least giving it a go. We are hopeless and yesterday just about summed it up. With a new manager watching they just couldn't be arsed.

Pretty spot on! although you need an ndidi to deal with soucek and paqueta.

City must have the most lightweight bunch of tippy tappy poseurs masquerading as footballers in the Premier League. Would like to think RVN might quickly recognise this and deal with it as a priority by adopting a style of play to suit. For me he can start by putting Hamza back in any other player that's prepared to do the ugly things in football, like running, shutting down and tackling. Enzo and the Championship flattered this lot and the days of two top five finishes in the Premiership are long gone. Would suggest that anyone thinking this squad can play itself out of trouble need to get off the waccy baccy.

Buonanotte means Goodnight in translation...so we need to have a good night then we can say "Good night" to the Hammers After we beat em 1 nil...

This is a game we've got to win as the amount of "winnable games", especially at home is getting smaller and smaller. West Ham are as defensively woeful as we are but they can score goals, like us.

With that in mind I can see either a 2-2 or 3-2 defeat. Ruud won't be able to do much with this lot and certainly not in the next 48 hours before the game.

I'm hoping that he tries going back to a few basics. If you are a defender, just concentrate on defending.

A bit of a throw back to Huth and Simpson days.

Do one job well and then we'll look at adding a few extras.

And, only pass the ball to someone wearing the same colour shirt.

This is must win but not winnable.:plancque:

West Ham know this is an easy 3 points.

What are the odds of West Ham being complete turd and Leicester turning up with a backbone??

Can we have an outbreak of something and get a postponement ?

could do with a whole week of training before we play again

Black Death would do it. Bring out your Deadwood.
